No doubt a little embarrassing for me but thats why I went: to get better. The pressure of being surrounded by people I respect so much literally had me shaking in my boots beyond even the bull I killed last year. I was completely unnerved and I honestly loved it. Being encompassed in the sport/industry my whole life and this was without a doubt the best education I’ve experienced in my life outside of a good Bible study. I was in the range practicing what I learned at 6am this morning, I meal planned last night, I practiced calling this am, I repeated the warm up stretches this am. My wife is out of town living her September while I hold down the household. Influenced massively by this camp. I’m grateful for it and will be back next year better. Dont cheat yourself by passing the opportunity to attend one of these camps. Its more than you expect.

Dan, I love your videos even though I’m not an Elk hunter. I’m from Wisconsin, and these videos are awesome man. Never expected a big KZbin channel would have videos about Wisconsin bow hunting. I learned ALOT from Joel just in this video alone. And it was great to see Joel’s goofy side as well. Seriously man thank you for making these last 2 videos

I’ve won world championships and set world records with a Carter Evolution. I can tell you it’s a very accurate release and technique, in many ways the most accurate. Not sure why this coach would claim it’s the least accurate way of shooting a compound bow. It’s a release that shoots with the exact same back tension every time. It is for children and it’s also for champions. I’ll give you a trick. Put hockey tape on it and use a 3 finger. It allows you to relax your hand more and prevents any slip. Your hand is just a tow hook. I’d rather someone be shooting an evolution any day of the week over a wrist rocket. Much easier to get them shooting accurately. Back tension shots are consistently the strongest and most accurate shots and an evolution makes that back tension consistent. I couldn’t imagine a coach telling someone not to use their evolution.

I rarely comment on KZbin but because of experience with my resistance release I felt compelled to share my story too. I shoot a Stan Perfex resistance as a 2 finger option for all my comps and I couldn’t agree more that it’s the most accurate when used correctly. Remember it’s about what works best for you. I competed at a national level as a kid punching a hinge prior to resistance releases coming out. I went through multiple seminars on using back tension prior to the year 2000 and nothing worked to stop me from inevitably just punching it under stress. So yes, Joel’s method though I applaud it, is not a revolutionary method of coaching, it has been taught for many years, but ultimately the resistance release when it came out changed the game for so many of us and I would argue is the most effective way to make good shot’s using back tension. My hope in posting this is that shooters don’t get discouraged from using a resistance release when they hear coache’s like Joel giving subjective opinion, rather I hope they stick with it and learn how a great shot really feels and become the best archer possible. Like anything worth doing, it’s worth doing it right making good shots every time. Cheers!

The proof is in how each influencers fans shoot, if you notice shot iq/ elk shape attracts the people who are really bad at archery(beginner or not that was awful shooting). Since they can’t simply have that burning determination some of us have. Elk shape/shot iq guys are here to sell you that determination.

Awesome collage video of all things Wisconsin knows Archery 🏹. Joel looked like he was having fun with all of the campers and the presenters. Iron Will Bill is a wealth of knowledge. I like my Vortex Diamondback 10x42s. I might have to get those socks 🧦 and I am a sucker for long sleeve sun shirts with or without a hood.

Since going to a hinge I’ve not been able to shoot index or thumb buttons. Even for hunting I’ve had good luck. It makes me slow my entire shot process down. A lot benefits to them.

The stone from Easton is not a squaring tool. It is mearly a chanfering tool. It is used to remove the very small burr inside the shaft that is left behind from cutting and squaring the shaft.

That stone that easton includes isn't for squaring the arrow. It's for beveling/ putting a radius on the inside corner. So that half outs and field points/broadheads shoulder up to the arrow shaft properly. I find half outs start in the arrows easier when using it.

I wonder if a more solid back wall on the bow helps for surprise release? I never gave the back wall much thought until watching this video.

Total arrow weight was like 495 last year. Flew great and had a full pass through with my hades Pro on my Buck. Went to a rip tko this year at 470 and better foc. Iron will single bevel. Ab 282 vs 270. Faster and still hits like a hammer

Just checking the new video, watching the tour of the vortex HQ, and I'm think this... What do you think about a video somewhat catered to budget hunters? Love the videos about "most exspensive arrow" or the "check out the new Fury GB binos" but as an everyday, on a budget hunter, I'd like to know your thoughts on the crossfire binos, or the crossfire 1400 rangefinder... How do you think they stack up side by side, or maybe, "I'm shooting TAC in South Dakota in a budget gear set up" Just the thoughts of an everyday archer, let me know. P.s. I mess with Elkshape heavy, I love to tinker, and I love progression.

As I watch this , I want to know why turner does not tell everybody to learn how to activate a hinge .if you are having problems activateing a thumb or index throw them away ,and get a hinge a hinge has no trigger it will force you to slow down, and you will truly find out what a surprise release feels like .lots of KZbin vids on how to activate them. It still takes time to be consistently accurate with one but don’t give up ,and you won’t believe how good you shoot. And then you can go to thumb or index and properly activate them.

You can see the level of anxiety some of those guys had with how much they jerked the trigger. Under low stress situations they'd probably do much better, but that's kind of the point. So much can be learned from JT
