About our Guest :
Gowry Lekshmi is an Indian composer, singer, songwriter, performer and music producer from the state of Kerala. Gowry Lekshmi began her film career at the age of 13 by composing a song for the Malayalam film Casanovva. Director Rosshan Andrrews, who liked her song "Sakhiye", used it in his Mohanlal-starrer Casanova that came out in 2012. Gowry made her debut as a playback singer for music director Prasanth Pillai in the film Ezhu Sundara Rathrikal. She became hugely popular when she sang the song "Aaro Nenjil" in the Malayalam film Godha. She has sung songs like Neram Poyi( priyan ottathilanu) and Ravoram( Sara`s) which have been much appreciated.
In 2015, Gowry produced her debut independent music video titled Thoni, who was also her first single, written, composed and sung by herself. Maane, Kanditttum Kanathe, Aararo are a few of her singles that she created over a period of last two three years.
She is married to Drummer Ganesh Venkiramani, the couple is now settled in Cherthala.
On this show Gowry Lekshmi talks about her personal challenges and struggles with mental health. She had been struggling with regulating her emotions and also found maintaining relationships very challenging. She has dealt with Depression and severe mood swings all her life. But at the sma time she was very creative in all her endeavours. More often than not she would self- sabotage her relationships and changes in mood were working against her. She says that she has been diagnosed with Borderline Personality disorder and explains how it has been living with it for her. She talks about the importance of therapy and how it has made a difference in her life. She has consulted several psychiatrists and psychologists to help her through the disorder and now finds herself in a good place after struggling for years with it. She also stresses on the importance of couples therapy and how it can help resolve conflict within a marriage. She says that parenting and childhood trauma can have a profound impact on one`s present and future and leaving things unresolved can derail our lives completely.
This conversation with Gowry Lekshmi focusses on Mental health Awareness and the profound impact that professional help via psychologists and psychiatrists can make in one`s own life. the wide array of subjects that she talks about can help dispel stigma surrounding Mental Health. Kudos to her, for sharing what she did on our show.

I started my therapy right after her Josh talks..I am diagnosed with BPD ..Me and my boyfriend went to see the psychologist and pshycartist together but later onwards after knowing about my problem and my behavioural issues he left me...I am struggling but still i have a hope..I am taking medication and will start therapy soon..So guys if you can't love your partner at her worst or if you are kind of person who can't deal that shit together means please don't fall in love with hyper sensitive human beings..I wish no one should go through the emotional instabilities I am undergoing rn...let everybody can fight their battle stronger💫

Well done Gauri for the awareness. Mental Health is extremely important and the Malayalee parents need to starts to to provide a good & strong mental health to your kids , rather than buying material things for them. Actually, Mental health is very important than a physical health. Because when you are mentally strong, you can handle a physical illness: but if you are struggling mentally, you can’t even enjoy your physical health.

I love when i hear such discussions about mental health. I went to therapy 3 years ago and my life changed soo much. Another thing that chnaged me was reflecting on yourself, understanding your personality is soo reveling. I took myer’s briggs personality test and understood I was Infj. That connected a lot like the map Gowri mentioned. Thanks Dhanya for bringing such uplifting inspiring talks ❤❤❤

I like the thumbnail " Therapy changed my life". Because now also there are lots of people who doesn't know the importance of therapy. Recently I have watched reel on insta, in that video she was telling useless degree is psychology and therapy is useless. Still I don't know how ppl can be senseless in "2022"!!!. I studied psychology, I am a consultant psychologist. So I just want to tell the people that please don't give wrong information and if you are not aware about it please don't tell anything. Mental health is very important as physical health! Thank you.

In a therapy, more than therapist, the client can have amazing and wonderful life experience even amidst their most traumatic experience. So I would never ever label any client into any diagnostic labeling. Precisely because they would start labeling themselves very much adversely by googling, so better don't push them into that trauma also.

I took a timeout from my MIL. I am pregnant and tired from household works. And now jobless too. MIL has no exposure to outer world and whatever I say, she always undervalues my relatives. So finally at the peak, I just started to keep quite. പുള്ളിക്കാരി അത് എന്റെ husbandinod പറഞ്ഞു വല്യ scene ആക്കി. ഞാൻ സംസാരിക്കുന്നില്ലെന്ന്.. (Actually I do talk. But just reduced.)

Your life is programmed in the 1st 7 years of life. Then rest of the life is like driving a vehicle. Once you learn driving carefully focusing on breaks’ accelerator’ Gear’ etc’ then it becomes automatic. Your subconscious mind controls your emotions and behaviours. Learn about yourself’ Love yourself’ forgive everyone and most importantly you. The most amazing thing is ‘ Complete Change is possible .
