The sims of sims 4 have been pagan for a while. Giving offerings to gnomes on a harvest holiday. Communing with island spirits. Talking to a special tree with a doorway to a magical land. Offering sugar skulls at the grave. A poppet (they called it a voodoo doll). Crystals that give you extra energy if you put it in the room with you. So now they can do magic spells. Bonus. 👍

I have been studying witchcraft for over a year now, trying to understand how to practice in the proper way, how to build my practice and then I see these articles about “being a witch for a week”... like, what does that even mean? You just can’t! However, I love this video, thanks for sharing your opinion on the subject Ella.

I'm new to Wicca. It's something that I was curious about for a while. The more I learned about it, the more it made sense to me. I like that its about what you do now, not about your final destination like most other religions. I like how it's very free form and not regimented like other religions. I'm new and still learning. I'm not really into the performing magic part of it but the way of life, culture and community is what interests me. Connecting to nature and other people with a similar outlook makes me happy. Thank you for the information you give and blessed be.

I am from Costa Rica, and it's a very catholic based culture with latino family, it was very difficult for me to express my interests and my doubts in regards our beliefs. Since I was little, I never felt a connection with the Catholic church and I felt obligated to follow it due to the fact that I grew up with my grandma. When I was 13, I started feeling a deeper connection with nature and the supernatural, as I had some positive experiences with both, and since then I always thought we were energy and that there was magick in everything. Unfortunately, there is no information about Wicca, or at least not when I was younger, and I didn't have the resources (Internet) to look for more information. I always struggled when people asked me about my religion and/or beliefs until I found Wicca. Something positive of this "witchcraft BOOM" was that I got to know about Wicca and I could finally put a name on what I've always believed in. Now I live in England and there is sooooo much more info.

I found out about wicca in early 2014 on tumblr and back then I had no idea what it was about and I kinda thought it was a dark thing so I stayed away from it, I grew up with a Christian family and used to think that that was the right, but I always felt different, always felt like that wasn't for me, so last year I got in contact with wicca again and began by watching AHS Coven, I know, it's nothing like that, but that was what made me curious about the religion so I started to research more about it and I found myself in a place that I never been but felt like always belong to, I'm still studying, still learning and you're being a great help to me, I'm also kinda sad because I only started now that it is becoming a thing, I wish I had gown in a wiccan family as well

Somehow people will always discover it, and that is one of the reasons I believe it’s a great thing that it is becoming more ‘popular’ as people then are able to discover it and find something they can connect with ❤️ as long as people then also really research it and try to understand I think it’s great ✨

Thanks for the video Ella! I first became interested in Wicca and paganism in general when I was a teenager in the 1990s (I guess that was the 90s trend you mentioned!). I read books on the occult and pagan tradition, and I used to wear my pentacle to school and everyone thought I was weird or a satanist. Eventually I stopped wearing it and pushed it all aside. I spent years being non-religious. I'm glad that it had a resurgence in popularity because it reminded me of what I used to love and lost, and it brought me back to it. I'm so grateful because it has brought me a lot of peace and happiness to practice again. I do understand the concern though with it being commercialised or trivialised, which is just disrespectful. You summed it up perfectly in your video xx

I agree with you 100%! I've been practicing for over 20 years now and when I was younger most practitioners around me were mostly in the broom closet. Now I see so many self proclaimed "witches" on IG doing it it just for the cute photoshoots or the adorable little spell bottles for clout. Honestly I see the pros in it with the practice being more accepted and ppl being less judgey over it but the cons is the fashion trend over it especially since AHS Coven season. Oh lord and don't get me started on the Stevie Nicks staning🤦🏽‍♀️

I wanted to take a moment to say thank you for your video. I grew up with a devout Christian father, so I felt kind of thrust into the Christian religion with no choice. It was also drilled into my head that witchcraft is a terrible thing, despite always being interested. Recently I felt that I needed to look into it, although I wasn’t aware that it was becoming a trend. Since looking into it, buying books, reading and watching everything I can get my hands on, I feel that I finally fit somewhere. I was nervous since I don’t have much space to practice, but your videos have been showing me that I don’t need a large space to do it. Your videos so far have been so helpful, so thank you.

Eclectic wicca has been growing much lately. I was not expecting to meet other wiccans where I went, but I met so many. They were people, either in family with witches, they were wiccan witches or were interrested in learning about wicca. This has been motivating for me, giving me a boost in confidence in my faith and practice. People believe that desicions I take, are based on following a fasion. Wrong! Some older people say «Changing pronouns is a trend now and that is why so many people are transgender,» when I came out and changed my pronouns because I am serious about it. Some probably believe that I am «brainwashed» into wicca, but they do not understand my story. What they understand is their own story, with me appearing in it. Maybe wicca is becoming a trend, maybe not? It might be that people end up finding more of a «spiritual home» within their life. Maybe they have been chased out of the church or other religion and they deconstruct their view of everything, ending up on wicca? That is also a posibility

I think that people are feeling the lack of being connected to life, to nature, to the universe etc. This is where our fulfillment is found in life and there seems to be a shift and people are picking up on it. Perhaps its end of the age of pisces that is happening i dont know but there is an awakening going on globally no denying that.

When I was in elementary school, a friend of mine and I played a game where we would run around the playground and pretend to kill aliens. In this game, we had assigned roles. My friend was the Commander and his ability was Super Strength while I was the Second In Command and my anility was my MacGyver-like ability to create any kind of technology out of the blue, even augmenting myself to become a better soldier (I wore an exosuit that enhanced my combat abilities.). Another friend of mine joined us and, naturally, he became the Third In Command. His ability was Super Speed (You know, like the Flash.). For a while, everything was going great and we were having fun. Eventually, however, a bunch of other kids joined us and the game devolved into something that it wasn't, almost ruining it completely. My point to telling you this, of course, is to point out that some things are better off when they're not trends. By the way, apologies for all those weird comments I have made. From now on, I will try to be creepy instead. :P

Great video Ella! I think the problem is that since it is such a new belief system filled with only a few believers we become an easy group to attack. More and more young adults are leaving behind their Christian and catholic views to pursue Wicca/witchcraft etc and those religious groups are starting to feel inferior due to fewer believers.

However I do enjoy the spiritual practices and they makes me feel so serene.

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina bugged me so much. And I am so torn, because I liked the series. But I absolutely hated the Witch = Worshiping Satan trope. And then when they got to the part with the Wiccans (? I assume ?) who were worshiping the Ancient Green God I got kinda happy cuz I thought "Oh wow, ok, so they're gonna go into the nature-based aspect thing, that's lovely, that's close to my craft". And then they started with the blood sacrifices and I was like.... really?

Corporations have no respect for anything but their profit and share value. In the same way, some influencers are only concerned with clicks, views, subscribers, and income and are driving this trend. It’s unfair on genuine practitioners, whether Wiccan or on other paths, whose content is valuable to those new to or interested in the Craft.

Ive been practicing witchcraft for years since elementary school) and on this app called Wicca the baby witches don't take it seriously and that hurts! They don't even know the consequences and the outlooks on how it could turn out. Its become an aesthetic and I actually hate it. One day when i pass it on to my kids i don't want them to think its just an aesthetic. Before you know it most the world will be just witches and a small groups of religious practices other than Paganism and Wiccan. Who agrees with me on this?

Hi. I like your content on youtube, but I want to talk about what you said about Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. I do not agree with the statement that this TV show is a cultural appropriation. You see, I think that you shouldn't say that this TV show content is offending Wiccan community in any way because there is no mention in any of the series about Wicca. And believe me, I am sure about that because I saw this TV show not just once. Also, I want to remind that person who is practising witchcraft is a witch, but not necessarily is a Wiccan. Another argument to justify my opinion is that TV shows are created just for fun, and no one is getting so serious about the content if that doesn't very deviate from reality. Some people for real worship Satan, but this TV show does not say that every witch is doing that. So the thing about the left path witches is true. And the last thing to say about this thing is that Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was the major inspiration for me to start witchcraft and I am very thankful for that because I finally found myself. And I did a lot of research about witchcraft and Wicca so I can say that this TV show is a good example of WITCHCRAFT. So, in the end, I want to say that in many people's eyes Chilling Adventures of Sabrina isn't a bad example of how the real withes look like.

Hey, thank you for your comment :) I definitely see the appeal of this show, and in itself as just a fun thing to watch as entertainment I do not mind it. The Wicca reference was with the club, I just looked it up and they called it “Wicca: Women’s Intersectional Cultural and Creative Association”. Again, the idea of the club is absolutely not an issue, I just wish they hadn’t called it Wicca because it may (to some) be misleading on what Wicca is (a neo-pagan religion), especially considering that it is in direct contact with Satanism in the show, and Satanism also by itself is not an issue, but Wicca is not Satanism. On another note, the new season is in itself quite problematic as well, as it involves Pagans and in my opinion, is quite a dark and perhaps inaccurate portrayal of paganism. However, I see why so many people like this show, it is similar to older shows like Charmed or movies like The Craft, intriguing and definitely meant more for entertainment rather than accurate portrayal of culture or practices. Sending love ✨

With the Holographic Universe Theory making headway toward domination in scientific communities I would like to believe that science plays a role in the uptick of interest in spirituality. Simply put; everything is vibrating at different frequencies. Some frequencies can be detected by human senses, whereas others cannot. Religion is based upon those frequencies that cannot be detected. If there are things we can see there must also be things that we cannot. So mote it be.

I cringe at the fact that this beautiful historically rich religion that found me and truly changed my life, is being used by others who come across it and use it for an aesthetic or to be trendy or to be different. It hurts my heart honestly. I’m always open to those finding the Craft and respecting as their true faith, but I feel lately my faith is being used, our faith is being used.

Unfortunately that seems to be the case with anything that grows - its a blessing and a curse. We have more access to things like books, tools, etc. but it can also often be used and twisted, and seen as an aesthetic which in turn can mean we aren’t taken as seriously anymore. It is a religion/craft and should be treated with respect - not as a fun trend to look cool
