What you were saying about Beardies needing room? VERY true. After almost doubling my Beardie's enclosure size after years in that tiny enclosure, he was acting way less stressed, he stopped glass surfing, he's been eating better, and just behaving in a healthier manner. This was a very good video, keep it up!

I know this isn’t related to bearded dragons but I’m going to try and convince my parents into letting me get a corn snake.and your videos are really informative for care requirements .and has allowed me to figure out how to take care of reptiles/corn snakes to the best of my ability. And using tile is only temporary until they’re old enough so that they don’t get infections and die by using glue substrate so don’t use loose substrate until they’re adults or you know the dragons aren’t eating it and getting impactions
@nightinggale6470 Жыл бұрын
New reptiles should be quarantined on paper towel (ideally for three months) to monitor their health. After this period, they can safely be housed on a suitable loose substrate, regardless of age. Impaction is caused by improper husbandry and/or underlying health issues, not loose substrate. As long as your husbandry is correct, a healthy animal will be able to pass loose sub no problem. Just like adults, juvenile bearded dragons live on loose terrain in the wild and have evolved to be able to handle it.

Friends, wash your reptile carpet by hand in the bathtub using the jet stream on your handheld shower head if you have one but use the hottest water you have and Dawn dish soap. Rise until you see no residue then spray liberally with pure hydrogen peroxide. You can also keep a bottle of peroxide with a few drops of Dawn to clean Everything in your house and theirs but I you see any spots on the carpet bubbling scrub the spots and rinse and repeat until nothing is reacting to the peroxide. Rinse in plain hot water and hang dry. Washing by hand allows you to remain in control of the affected spots and ensuring it is actually clean but also makes them last so much longer.

Hey so I'm in a bit of a bind here. I know the humidy level for superworms has to be below 50% but I can't get my room humidity below 50. I opened my windows and exhaust fans, turned my fan on, kept my door open and even bought a dehumidifier. And my room hasn't got below 50 after almost a week. There's no leaky pipes and the vents work just fine. What should I do?

@nightinggale6470 Жыл бұрын
Reptichips are not a suitable substrate for bearded dragons. New reptiles should be quarantined on paper towel (ideally for three months) to monitor their health. After, a soil/sand/clay mix is best.

can you use a ceramic heat lamp instead of a heat bulb? I am not having good luck with bulbs. I have a drawer full of ones I don't like. They blow out after a short time, or they don't keep a consistent temperature. I have them on a dimmer switch as you suggested. Should I also plug them into a thermometer too? Watched a lot of your videos… Do you use Bio Dude Terra Sahara substrate? If not, do you prefer bioactive over tile for bearded dragons? Assuming you have arid Isopods and aird springtails. Do you still clean up the waste from your bearded dragon with the bio active setup or just spot clean? I also am having a hard time finding information on how many isopods and springtails are needed for a 4’ x 2’ enclosure and does a bioactive setup help with the Smell of the 💩?

OK so I just adopted a bearded dragon and we have the four by 2 cage - it’s huge! My problem is there’s so much conflicting information and I went to a reptile store and I got a really high quality light but when I use the temperature gun it’s still saying it’s only around 95° in basking spot, so how do I get it hotter? do I use a ceramic heat lamp? Thanks!
@ellesreptiles Жыл бұрын
Hearing taller tanks can definitely be a little tricky. You can get a higher wattage bulb, or you can definitely add additional heat, like the ceramic heat lamp. You also can (if possible) raise the basking spot closer to the light. Either way!

Quick question, I have recently gotten a Juvenile Bearded Dragon and from what I can see at least he seems comfortable? He isn't scared when I put my hand in the enclosure, he's eating regularly, I've been changing the food and water daily, and he seems very curious, as he always stands near the glass and just stares at me. Now even with these positive signs he seems to have dark spots on his stomach which I believe are stress marks? So it has been less than a week that I've gotten him and was wondering what I could do?
@SetariM Жыл бұрын
Hi Elle, been watching your videos for a while and you've helped me set up my now 10-mo old beardie's tank very well. However I have an issue getting him to eat ANY vegetables or fruit, he refuses to eat any. It's my fault as I basically raised him on bugs only until a vet visit recently where they said to cut back on the bugs since he was too fat, lol. However I've tried bee pollen on the vegetables, a ton of different kinds of fruit, I feed him spring greens normally. The other day he ate a dandelion leaf from outside, just one, wouldn't eat any more. Do I just have to keep offering him fresh veggies and nothing else until he eats veggies? It's been a couple weeks since I cut off his bug supply, and 1 week since I ran out of vet puree to feed him twice daily. I may take him to the vet again but I have a feeling I just have to keep offering vegetables until he's hungry enough to eat them?

@ellesreptiles Жыл бұрын
Really? I've never tried their tanks. What all did you have to buy extra? I'm sorry you had a bad experience with them!
@Yoshoggutha Жыл бұрын
@Elle's Reptiles it wasn't so much the people, they were really nice and all but their products need more available information. I moved my male into it, and he had an existential crisis. The glass doors were rattling like crazy if you so much as breathed near it, so I had to buy foam tape to fix that. I got the background they sell, and it was so big I lost a foot of space in the enclosure and couldn't fit the giant hide cave they sell. Also, the panels don't line up on the bottom, so now there's a gap in it, which caused the wood panel to bow. I made it all work and got a new table stand to put the enclosure on, so it's all perfectly level now. Moral of the story is, for $700 dollars I shouldn't have to do all that. I definitely wouldn't recommend this to a beginner either.
@Yoshoggutha Жыл бұрын
@Setari M Yeah, I recently discovered other options to Zen. Unfortunately, after the fact but at least I know when I need enclosures in the future. The Zen stuff was so talked up all over the place, I thought it'd be a good choice. Thanks for the link, that's a really great site and their enclosures are similar to a pvc one I already own. I'll definitely hit them up soon!
