You can also tilt your head and blink slowly. Birds do this when they trust someone, I'm guessing if you tilt your head and blink slowly it means to a bird ''I trust you, so you can trust me'' It worked for my cockatiel and she loves me now :D Thank you for so many likes!!

I've only know one other budgie as calm as Violet and that was my Frenchie who was also a sky blue budgie. His backstory was he was bought from a general store way back when. Apparently he used to escape his enclosure which house other budgies and would be loose for a couple days at a time ( they did leave food and water out for him). When I saw him at the store he was the only one in the group that would come to the glass side to be near people. I knew right then that he was the one and he proved to be a very well behaved and tame bird.

I just got two new baby budgies that were handled by the breeder and are so chill! I am so excited to bond with them. Today they came out and stepped up and enjoyed budgie sounds on youtube and finally are eating. Thanks for your helpful video. My cockatiel of 13 years is happy to have chatter!

This video is incredibly helpful! I think you structured the information in this video perfectly and I felt like every single piece of information that you gave was meaningful and important.There was never a time when I felt like you were not giving me info that I needed. I also really enjoyed that you explained that for example, if a bird was flying around it's cage, it is scared but since yours was still it was calm. You really did a great job at explaining both sides to the situation, if that makes sense. You made this video universal so that it could help people with a lot of situations. Great job and thanks for the help.

Hey Elle, I don’t know if you read comments anymore - but thank you! I got my cockatiel 3 days ago, and we’ve already bonded closely based on everything you’ve done here. I’ve let my sweet baby go at her own pace, let her choose what she’s comfortable with, used millet as a treat and motivator (no pressing against bellies or anything) and already she likes to come out of her cage, climb on me, and step up. She even lets me give her little scritches and pats (I always ask permission first and she bows her head down)! I’m very lucky I found you before I got a bird, because I did a ton of research and you really helped me figure out good cage sizes and looks, how to gain my bird’s trust, and so on. I’m sure some, if not most birds, are probably not as outgoing - but I’m really lucky my sweet girl is. She’s so friendly and social, and I figure as long as I respect her boundaries we’ll be friends for a long time!!

I did this exactly step by step and my birds started eating from my hands the same day ! I've had them for a bit over a month and they hadnt warmed up to me a lot (i tried other bonding videos). I found this one and i have a feeling this will definitely work !! UPDATE: Yesterday I continued following these steps and one of my birds is learning to step up ! Since that is pretty much the last step, I am going to do 15 minute training sessions with that birds so they get more comfortable with stepping up. I'm also hoping my other birds learn by example !!

Hey, I desperately need help, so ever since we got them (2 birds), my family can't afford to give them an accurate cage, we have a cage that was offered from a pet store. Recently we found out that it was a girl and boy. We named them Willow and Sweetie. I try to avoid direct eye contact, and I have let them out in my room TWICE. The boy, Willow is very scared of me. Sweetie enjoys my presence more, but not as much as your birds do. It seems that Willow has bonded with Sweetie, and refuses to play with me. We got them a few days ago, so I don't know what to expect. Both birds are pretty much scared of me, but Sweetie has stood on my finger when she was in the room with me. I don't know if their wings are clipped, but they can barely fly. They don't eat it if it's from my hand, and I'd stick my hand in the cage for about 15-20 minutes but they still refuse. I have given them apples, celery, and some treats from the pet store. They refused all of them unless I leave them on the cage floor. Is this normal?

Hiam Koujan yes maybe out a plate at the bittom of the cage. keep showing them your presence is ok

Same problem here. 8 months later and my birds wont cooperate. Really frustrating. I have tried everything. Nothing works.
@theoneunslept20934 жыл бұрын
Be very careful when feeding them celery! I would even advise entirely against it because of the fibers in it which can clog up their crops! research what other foods are good for birds, and feed them a varied diet with fruit only being a rare treat (it's too high in sugar). As to the taming, keep your hands out of their cage, especially if your cage is small. Their cage should be their safe space, and somewhere where they can go to when they are overwhelmed or scared to calm down. It also sounds like they're clipped, so be careful when you're letting them out since they cant just up and fly away to run away from danger. For the first few days, I would personally say letting them be in their cage and interacting with them by talking to them would be best, but considering their cage is likely extremely small, it's best to release them daily for a few hours (supervised, of course). Leave some spray millet close to you, not directly on you, and either only say something in the kind of voice you'd use for babies to them when they come over close to you to eat their treats, or completely ignore them until they look comfortable. Repeat and push the boundaries bit by bit. It's really all about trust, so learn to understand your birds' body language and vocal language and work as a team.

@@kayla-vn1yc My bird refuses to eat millet. I don't know why. She just seems scared of it. After an hour or two in her cage on the first day she was chirping and flying around. If I turn on budgie noises she loves that. I let her out of her cage yesterday for about 4 hours but it took another hour to get her back in her cage. She finally landed on a perch and we had enough time to put her back in the cage. She steps up onto my finger and I want to reward her but she is afraid of the millet.

And the thing i really like about your vids is the fact that you get straight into the subject without waffling on about non related stuff.
