The Ellenroad Engine House
The worlds largest surviving working steam mill engine, is a pair of triple expansion engines named Alexandra and Victoria which are connected by and 80 ton flywheel, built by J&W McNaught, it was built in the late 1800's and was powered by 5 Lancashire boilers.

id love to know what the waight of the flywheel is!! looks like it waights more that 10 lorrytrucks

Am I correct in saying that each groove on that gigantic flywheel would have had a rope, and that the power would be disbursed to many shafts via the ropes?

Don't forget the leigh spinners mill engine Yates and Thom cross compound engine from 1920s that's a hefty well built engine and worth a look at also grane mill haslingden (the unsung hero) a cracking little cross compound engine once numerous also worthy of a look at regards 👍🍻

I thought the one in Manchester was the biggest, but this sure seems a contender. They look extremely similar too, same build?
