Hi Ellen, I love your videos and I enjoy the way you incorporate so many goodness into your soap. I have a question though, do the soaps bubble fine with all the creamy stuff? I am asking because I am a beginner in the soap making and I am trying to learn as much as I can. Thank you!

Thanks! It's a good question, I have plenty of lathering oils (plus the cane sugar), so the milks/creams just add a creaminess to the lather. But it still has a nice amount of bubbles.

Ellen I just love your videos ! I listen to them all day at work,( I have a very boring job). I was thinking of making a soap primarily with Shea , Kokum, and mango butters in your opinion would it make the bars too soft? Coco butter is another option I know but I just really love the feel of those three. With some tussah silk , and some milk powders it would just be so creamy I think. What would be your suggestion? This is a great soap and I can imagine how good this smells! I noticed you put your shavings in a bucket, do you use them for another soap? I've been thinking about doing that with mine and the little bit of soap bars left after they get down so little. Can you do that with the leftover soaps and pieces? I love your videos. 🥰😊

Looks so yum and luscious! When you use titanium dioxide do you water discount? I water discount to prevent glycerin rivers but my batter always reaches thick trace rapidly - despite adding colourant and essential oils to just emulsified batter with minimal stick blending. I seldom get a nice fluid pour like you have. I soap at around 104 degrees fahrenheit.

I typically work with a pretty steep water discount anyway, so I don't discount anymore for the T.D. I like to soap around 80-90 degrees. T.D. does speed up trace for sure...

This mold holds about 9 lbs of soap batter.

Whenever I add sugar to my lye water, I have to refrigerate my batter after I pour it into the mold or the tops crack. I notice that you don’t seem to have that issue. You even force gel phase by putting your lid on the mold. Is it because you use very little hard oils? I’m curious because I’d love for my soaps to go through gel phase because I love that it makes the colors pop but I’m afraid I’ll be cleaning up a volcano mess.

I use almost 50% hard oils. My soap studio is very cool, but I do insulate my molds.... I haven't had volcano issues.

I live in Northern California and none of these homes have air conditioners because it’s so rarely gets hot. But I do think the cool air may make a big difference! I’m unable to regulate that because I’m at the mercy of whatever the temperature is in the house. I think it’s time to either eliminate the sugar or maybe try sorbitol. Since it’s an alcohol sugar the reaction may be different.

Very few of the older homes have AC in San Francisco. The newer ones may but definitely not the older ones. No one on my block has AC and I only have one friend who does.

How do you mix your titanium dioxide? I have tried finding videos on KZbin and even trying to look for books. I can’t find anywhere how to mix titanium dioxide in oil’s or water for soap and cosmetics from powder

I use water soluble T.D. and when I mix it in the lye solution, I just put in the powder and blend it right in. The premixed bottle has 1 part T.D. to 2 parts water ( and a touch of preservative, if you're not going to use it really quickly)...
