I'm in the anti 'floaty bit' group...it's not just the clean up, it's having them potentially sticking to me in places I don't want them. But I love me some nice bath salts and I different salts, scents and light colorants. And I package them in in the heat sealed window pouches. For family...I do fancy glass jars with scoops that can be refilled. I use a regular iron to seal my bags and I label them BEFORE I fill them as it is easier.

Great video, Ellen! Have you tried coloring your bath salts? I have used both color mica powder made for soap and food-grade dye (IE: for cakes, etc.), and I've found that after about 3 months on the shelf, they will start to fade and/or discolor. It's just a natural chemical reaction from the salts. Just curious if you've experienced that before or have any suggestions on how to prolong the shelf life / color.

Hi I tried your bath salt with the black or deep purple himalayan salt added to it. I've found it didn't smell very nice while running the tub. It smelt like rotting eggs. I didn't know it was that at 1st as I put in several different things but now I know its definitely that as I've looked it up. Black himalayan salt has a high sulfur content which gives of a pungent egg smell. Just thought you would like to know.

I hate to bug you with a question because you’re nice enough to make these videos but I’m kind of stumped. I know I’m scent sensitive, so maybe I’m crazy, but I have tripled the amount of salt this recipe calls for to try to dilute the amount of scent, it seems overwhelming. Is it supposed to be this concentrated because when you add it to the bath it gets diluted? Thanks for your help Ellen
@EllenRuthSoap

Yes, it gets very diluted in a full bath of water. But it's fine to use much less fragrance, the salts will smell nice and it will be a super soft scent in the bath..

Personally, I wouldn't even worry about it 😉 I think it's fine 👍

Hello Ellen, I have about 25 pounds of the European Spa Salt (Medium-Grain) from Wholesale Supplies Plus, could I use that in place of the sea salt and Epsom salt?

Oh yes, that would be great for this❣️

I put mine in the oven on the lowest setting which is 170 degrees for 15 minutes and stirred every 5 minutes and they still look "wet". Should I put them back in the oven and rebake them or let them dry for another day? I used the same ratio (0.50 fragrance and 0.50 Poly 80).

Hmmm, you could try a bit longer in the oven. Or add more salts and even some baking soda for more dry ingredients..

What is the poly80 for? I know it helps colorant to disperse in bath bombs, but there’s no mica in this recipe.

You could leave it out if needed, but it helps disperse the fragrance and have the tub rinse clean.

@@EllenRuthSoap Thank you for clarifying! I wanted to try a small batch for myself with some leftover salts to see how I like it and thought I had completely missed something. After watching twice, I thought it would be best to ask 😊

I suggest a dehumidifier and keep them in a cool dry place.

What is a good way to dry the bath salts? I made 3 batches last Saturday after watching the video and as of today it is still not dried. I have it on a pan. One batch I placed in oven at 170 but I feel I messed it up it seemed to be more wet. Not sure if it was in to long I did ten minutes.

Of it's not dried in a couple of days, I do put it in the oven at 150-170 for 30 min or so, then stir and see if it's dried...
