I'm glad Ellie is okay and it was only a toe ! She told me when she gets better she's going to point out the calf that stepped on her and she would like you to send it to town. Then she would like a portion of it turned into some fancy dog food. She would also like several of the bones for her and Sonny to chew on.

Dogs are amazingly resilient animals. Even loosing a whole leg they seem to learn to function no problem. Give her a couple weeks and she won’t even miss that toe.

Dogs are so dedicated to being our companions, supporters and protectors. They don’t understand that sometimes they need us to do that for them. That sad face they give when they feel they’re not doing their job breaks our hearts. May Ellie heal fast and start feeling like herself again soon. She didn’t look sleepy,,,, she looked pissed! I have a blue Merle that lost a fight with an angry brangus cow. Broke her front leg. Vet cut it off. She was 2 or 3 when it happened. She’s the fastest 13 year old three legged dog in the world.

Please watch out for Tiny Dog. He is all over the place. When I was young I had a Collie that my dad ran over because it was always darting in and out of the tractor. Lost my best friend.

The silver lining to Ellie's cloud is that once that fix is healed, she'll likely never know the difference.---I wouldn't have guessed you'd need to watch for traffic when using the chipper/shredder so close to the road, but then, I never considered the frozen stuff...learn something new everyday!

Poor Ellie. I had to take my kitty in to the vet this past week. He's got a double ear infection and a skin infection, too. Was not a happy kitty! Took 4 people to hold him down to get blood drawn and he was even sedated, not once but twice. Took bout 48 hrs before he really would come out from under the bed. He is still workin on getting back to himself. I feel for Ellie, too!

Will pray for Ellie. My grand-dog just had tibial tuberosity advancement (TTA) surgery for a torn cranial cruciate ligament (CCL). Porter is crate contained for 6-8 weeks. 😢

It's awesome that you have the equipment to go in and smooth out your pens. I never realized how good of an investment a box scraper can be on a ranch until I started watching your videos. A testament to your concern for your cattle and the quality of care you give them. Making it easier for them to walk makes for less stress. Less stress makes for better feed conversion. Sonne cattle are happy cattle! 🐃

I feel for Ellie I have enjoyed watching her in the episodes and watching little pouch make her more active again. I've had Labs have to wear those cones in the past and I felt sorry for them and me having to deal with the mess it causes till they get used to having it on, which never totally happens. I think you chose the right course of action, we love our pets and enjoy having the around. I hope everything works out; I've felt like I was petting her right along with you every time I saw you do it!
