Joined the Navy at 17 and enjoyed this music. Remembered training on a Destroyer off San Diego and piped this music up to the bridge. Spent the mid watch listening and thinking of home. Great memories, great times!

Saw Moore - Love in a small venue in San Francisco 15+ years ago. First, Melba Moore; then dynamic Darlene Love. Outstanding live performances. After the 90 minute event, MS. DARLENE LOVE was approachable and asked a personal assistant to get a full sized poster; which she graciously signed. This Irishman thought her performance & interaction was top notch, very memorable. This artist has been relevant for over 5 decades. [ she made Phil Spector a success; along with Ronnie & the Ronettes]. Hope Ms Love is prospering in her retirement-- well deserved. FAIR PLAY TO YOUR, D.L.!!

Still listening to this music today amidst later acquired musical tastes. Whatever may have been unpleasant about the early 60s (and compared to what's going down today it wasn't all that much) was certainly offset by this tsunami of sound that just kept coming and coming. So many talented writers, producers and singers -- a veritable Rock N Roll Renaissance, so very memorable. God bless all who contributed; they made a better life for so many of us! 5/2019

These songs defined my junior high years and are better than almost anything produced today.

In The UK there's a Music Historian who blew me away when he acknowledged that some songs were obscure R & B Songs like "Do Wah Diddy" was actually done By The Exciters of "Tell Him Fame". Michael Peters was the "assistant" choreographer to Michael Bennett in the "Original" Production of Dreamgirls who both died of AIDS Related Illnesses.

I became a teenager or as my dad would say (a crazy bugger) in 1961 I was 13. The best year for me in the '60's was no doubt 1967. RockinRonny...Canada

The "Original" Miss Ellie. Those Songwriters wrote songs that became Hits but how many of their Acts came out of it financially secure Some are still singing for their supper.

It was a tough business for all involved on the talent end. But you're right, at least the songwriters received royalties. The artists, maybe not so much.

I wonder if Ellie Greenwich (RIP) along with Cynthia Weil and Carole King would influence the next generation of Female Songwriters from Linda Creed (RIP), Pam Sawyer, Sara & Jana Allen (RIP) not to mention Diane Warren.

I saw this show originally on a pair of “Annie Oakleys” in previews I think. Was it the great American musical? Well no. But it was GREAT, it was AMERICAN, and it had some wonderful music. Liz an Nelle, as usual, we’re decades ahead of their time. They created the proto-type for the juke box musical that has populated Broadway yers later.

If they ever do a revival of Leader of the pack... I hope that the people behind the scenes back comb the bee hive wigs in to bouffants.. teh ronettes didn;t wear beehives.. just watch old ronettes footage
