He is 100% correct. I had an ex reach out to me after we broke up 20 years ago via email around Christmas. We lost contact 10 years ago. I did not notice as I don't check that email anymore. 6 months later he sent another message, once again I missed it. 8 months later he sent me another one, on Valentines day. Ignoring the messages was purely accidental as I'm not the type of person to do that, especially after 20 years. I'm the type to view it as water under the bridge. I responded casually and with a few sentences. A few weeks later, I received a very long message. He clearly started to chase after a period of a year and a half. I believe he was lonely and looking for attention, but the lack of attention definitely made him chase. The behavior i was seeing was surprising after so many years. Men clearly love the conquest.

I've been watching your videos and they always help. But you always give examples of dating someone after a couple of months or weeks. For me I have been dating someone for nearly two years. We were so happy and this was not one sided, he used to tell me that on a daily basis, even on the day he just dumped me out of the blue. Told me I was perfect in a relationship but he just feels in his gut that he doesn't want to be a relationship. Ugh I was doing so well for 5 months. I went dead cold on him. He contacted me a week ago and we’ve been talking. He says he has too much love for me than to cut me out of his life completely, but that he wants to be friends. I’m not sure what’s worse, not having him in my life at all, or being stuck in the friend zone because he’s not taking the opportunity to pursue me/make things right. He’s open to losing me if I meet another man someday, and is hoping his feelings for me die off by then. But then says things like, “who knows, maybe one day a year down the road we can try again.” I feel stuck. We were together for 5 years and went through so much together. It hurts being just friends.
