Elliott Smith - Dancing On The Highway (20th Anniversary Remaster 2023)

Sometime in 1998-9 Elliott wrote and recorded 'In The Lost and Found'. The released version on Figure 8 contains a segment at the end that Elliott called 'The Roost'; an endless guitar loop.
This loop was used on multiple versions of his song 'Dancing On The Highway', as heard in his demos. This is a remaster compiled from multiple working mixes of the song. XO.

I find the dissonance between the guitar sample and the other stems really evocative. It makes the song for me. The fact that they match up really well in most places but have strong dissonance in others gives the whole track this slight feeling of unease.

@@UkuleleAversionYou can also hear the guitar loop emulate a melodic phrase that the vocals share, and the higher chiming notes complement the peculiar B7 to F chord change. Definitely feels like it was intended to match the stems.
