@Nicholas H I've come to realised that contrary to Cobain, Elliott was most likely stabbed in a moment of frenzy by his girlfriend. Why? Cause of the angle of the stabs. That's my theory, neighbors also heard a commotion going on. I don't want to go much into details - you can look it up for yourself - but Mrs. Chibba also called police like half an hour after the act. Imagine having the love of your life dead at your feet and waiting half an hour to dial for help, everything about this is shady

I noticed KRS is selling Basement, much to my relief. Thank you for doing such a great job keeping this guys legacy intact. New Moon was a revelation, the revamped either/or and self titled are spectacular... I wish you guys had the rights to all his music. I hate when labels milk one or two extra song on reduxes (cough)Universal/UMG(cough) for decades. I’ll never forget seeing New Moon and wondering “how did they squeeze 24 shoddy tracks out of his catalog? Must be a lot of live stuff....” then I looked at the song listing. Only KRS would release 24 studio tracks like that. Anyways. Thank you.🖤

this was one of his earlier songs. its all about rejection and suicide. the ending he says he cant seem to join in the holiday celebration but that he is going to praise his maker which, turns out to be female. the final stanza where he repeats "and I wanted her to tell me that she would never wake me" this she is either god as he knew it or perhaps his mother. either way, he seems to be hoping that either god never wakes him (Death) or his mother (Sleeping in to nurse a hangover). but why would he want his mother to NEVER wake him? the word NEVER implies an eternal request to not wake him, which to me, means death.
@miquel36578 жыл бұрын
Till Brainman Very interesting point. The song definetely has a nihilist twist and it's almost like a short story. He's probably talking about depression, suicide and death. In this order. "So sick of it all asleep at home" is a clear reference to depression, like he just wanted to sleep because everything had lost all of its sense. Then "You know one day it'll come to haunt you" could perfectly be a reference about knowing that you might end up commiting suicide if you keep this depressed. And then in the church part he could perfectly be talking about his own funeral. Waking up after the church bell is a very poetic and smart way to say that you died. And obviously he's also saying that he's not there but he's praying anyway. I personally don't like to relate Elliott's songs to this kind of stuff because I know it goes further, but damn, this song seems to be talking about it so clearly.

Just sitting here at 2 AM high out of my mind again from amphetamines, but in my mind I know this needs to be the last time and not the time before last like all of the other times. I’m sick of the drug related compromise. Im sick of the sickness and how it rots me out from the inside out. I’m sick of burning the bridges that connected me to people that made me feel loved. Beautiful people. A beautiful woman or two that had beautiful hearts attached to their beautiful bodies, beautiful minds, and beautiful faces. From where I stand right now, Im highly certain that it’s uncertain I’ll ever get her back, my family, or myself for that matter. I feel fated to have to walk the streets in my next phase of life. Walking those streets until something comes along that leads to me dying on those said streets. Streets far far away from home. Streets that I don’t know the names of or the shortcuts to take on them. Only the short acting highs from the drugs that are shortly to cut the threads that keep me alive. It’s safe to say I’m terrified of the terrors in my mind, and if I keep thinking about them the way I always do, they’re surely to manifest into a reality… The way..: They always do.
