Elliott Smith: Independence Day & Bye live at the Knitting Factory NYC New Year's Eve 1999

He started the Rose Parade in between songs and then stopped and commented on the "Duracell Bunny" which is supposed to be the "Energizer Bunny" LOL.
This was one of the best shows I've ever been to. When Elliott Smith died, I felt like it was such a heavy loss to the music world. It's a tragedy that he's not still with us today as he would have contributed more beautiful music for us all to hear. R.I.P. Thanks for watching.

I understand what you mean! Truly though, of course he knew he was “good”, I believe he knew he was far far more than that. I have found that often those artists that actually are perhaps “genius” (what ever that really means) find themselves rarely if ever truly happy with their work…they will never be satisfied, how could they be… “you may write the perfect song, but you won’t live long”~Quasi “Poisoned Well” It’s a curse

Bye is actually in a movie, can’t remember what it’s called, but that version (on a cool synth) is played by Elliott in a movie. The version on KZbin is called snow bunnies serenade. Same movie ends w/ his tune splitzville and he cameos as a bus driver i think. (This might b 2 separate movies tho idr lol)

This isn’t the channel I’d expect to see Elliot Smith footage, but a very pleasant surprise. Independence Day is one of my absolute favorites from him. I think we all wish Elliot could interview Elliot. Then again I count my blessings, one of which is that we live in a reality that we got to have him in the first place.
