His guitar playing on Son of Sam is insane. He was so phenomenally gifted.

I've played guitar my whole adult life and still can never get how he pulls off these great little melodies and riffs without ever losing the main rhythm of the song.

He was incredible at self-accompaniment. The only other person who is in the same realm to me would be Richard Thompson.

Dude must have played guitar every day his entire life, you can just tell in the clarity of his style

That’s what has been said about him. Yes, every day.

A perfect example of the right interviewer with the right person to interview. I loved the comment about Shakespeare and Elliott's honest interest when the interview mentions his use of iambic pentameters. Super sweet interaction

what an awesome setlist. love hearing pitseleh live. funny how she mentions the no name songs and then when he plays happiness he says this song doesn't really have a name

What a fucking great answer to the question, which is a fair question to ask him, why he decided to use more instrumentation on XO - "well before I just didn't really have any other instruments around." What an artist.

He was a master of the guitar. So underrated.

i kno... i'd kill to play like him.. somehow showy and subtle.. right, being a great guitarist isn't about ripping out EVH solos.. its about this.. creative beautiful melodic movements while being able to throw in nuance licks that heighten the stakes without even realizing it while listening,, like its all just so meant to be..

I seriously wonder if I‘ll ever get tired of this mans music. It‘s been 3-4 years already..

Nahhh, there’s not a single song I’m sick of after 16 years. The discography is ridiculously huge for the time he had on this earth.

i hear that... he's been my favorite musician since 2008.. im 33 now.. nobody can top Elliott.. passionate, melodic, lyrical, songwriting prodigy.. great purity in all of it.. never identified with someone's art so well

I concur with others, I was around 22 when I started, now 38. Definitely took breaks, but never too long though.

I’m pretty sure the music is sped up and this sounds a bit higher in pitch and faster tempo than it should be. Even still great interview and a great performance

His comment about all of his songs having something in them that he wanted to fix but ran out of time is accurate to all the greatest songwriters. They never see their songs as "finished" pieces of art the way the audience does. To us it's like, "what could you possibly improve?!".
