i am fortunate enough to see Elliott perform, once in 1999 (solo) and 2000 (band). i was right in front of him during his solo set, close enough to shake his hand. i was very much in awe of his performance and at the end, he looked down and waved good-bye at me. because i was standing so close, i can say he's a very good looking man.

I was there...17 years old.. best memory ever; him playing in a crowded Higher Ground tent and me thinking: who is this great guy? I never stopped loving his music. Thank you for this!

I love how honest he seems, like he really thinks about every word before he speaks. Such a soft spoken guy too. Watching videos like this make me incredibly sad he's gone and that I never got a chance to meet him.

I suffer from Depression, Addiction, Social-Anxiety & I'm a musician as well & one thing that always blows my mind about Elliott is how productive he actually was & how much material he recorded. Rest in Paradise my man...you are truly missed.

I love what he says about his oscars performance. And I love hearing him talk, see him smile, it's a bit like a little bit of him is still alive and well preserved in those videos. I could watch them all day.

I was there that year and I saw him play. It's the most fond memory I have of ever seeing anyone play at a concert/festival. I became an instant fan of his music and have been ever since. RIP Elliott

When I first listened to Elliott Smith, I had a neutral reaction to his music. Now I realized you really have to listen to his singing with your heart to fully appreciate him.

Listening to Elliott made me stop listening to metal pretty much, I still listen occasionally, but not as much. Elliott also inspired me to play acoustic guitar, I had already played electric but now I pretty much only play acoustic because of Elliott.

Thank you, Elwin, for uploading one of the most (if not the most) revealing interviews of Elliott I've seen. There was something so touching about him. He was so unaffected and so unguarded. That shy, nervous smile just kills me.

shotterslife - that’s because certain writers and “experts” with an agenda to paint a certain picture of Elliott as the typical tortured artist have beguiled many. A lot of their “facts” are either distorted or simply plain wrong.

@36stylesofdanger, you need to listen carefully to his interviews. At first listen, it seems like his ideas are choppy and aren't making sense. At second listen, you will clearly see that he makes perfect sense and also valid points. Some people aren't the best public speakers, regardless if they're an addict or not. I suck at public speaking and find myself at a loss for words, but if I have time to sit down and think about what I want to say, I can express my words easily through writing.
