I’ve been in love with this album for 13 years and this is the first I’ve heard an “album” live version of these songs. So fucking sad that he didn’t live long enough to tour these songs. I can only image myself standing in the crowd, watching him play these songs. That makes me smile.

there were so many recordings from that era that I made my own track list of the album, with 16 extra songs pulled from Grand Mal (a few are from XO and Figure 8 era but they fit the mood, I think) that version I compiled is my favorite album of all time I really would've loved to hear his version I bet it would've been far superior to everything else, not just out of his albums, but any other album I can think of by anybody

I remember this show. For some reason I ran into Elliott a few times that week. As I recall this was either an unannounced or last minute show w Grandaddy. A friend had tipped me off. The three times saw him that week he was wearing a green Midori liquor shirt. The following night I went to see Grandaddy at the Wiltern, where they were opening for Pete Yorn. Mid-set I was caught by some pretty intense B.O. I turned around and, god rest his heart, there was Elliott with a big smile and that green Midori shirt, lovingly watching Grandaddy.

Nothing makes me sadder then knowing he will never fully obtain the sound he was working towards

Through his voice, it sounds like that he was way too far from the top of his condition....and the crowd does not sound like they were aware of this...or maybe it's something else, but it's heartbreaking to hear him like this. Awesome rare set nevertheless.

You should listen to this at .75 speed, it is by far the most terrifying and beautiful thing I’ve ever heard.

I believe this was Ariana Murray on keys (bass?) and Scott Mcpherson on drums, with Elliott on his 330. There's a shot from Elliott smiling this night in the "Basement.." package.
