What I loved about this station.Was it was always something interesting on it?And they also used to show cartoons in the afternoon and they had them all on before.The other two networks in my area have them so you can watch them twice

I remember this. My dad used to watch WTAF. This brings back memories. Love the old Philles promos. They're my favorite baseball team. I also love The Monkees promos. Thank you for uploading these Ellis. Brought back some great memories. I do miss the 1980s...well, the good times, not the bad ones.

What a gem these are! These took me right back to being a kid sitting at the kitchen table and watching most of these shows. I would love it if you had archived somewhere some episodes of The Candy Ape News Company show. There is one incomplete episode floating around on KZbin. Anyways this was the first video of yours that I had stumbled across, but you've gained a new sub and I plan on checking out some more!

The original call letters for channel 29 was WIBF. Then it became WTAF. I believe that's when they built the tallest tv tower which produced 5 thousand watts of power. This tower, as I recall in an ad, could send the signal further than the major networks which were located in Roxborough where the other channels had their towers.

Wow! U remember this era well, I was in HS. I used to watch the 10 O' Clock. News, Star Search, The Monkees, Puttin' On The Hits. What's Happening Now. & That's My Mama. I don't even know what's on Channel 29 these days. I don't even have a TV anymore.

Ellis, when I was a kid in the 60s - 70s, pre-cable TV, someone put up an antenna near the Harrisburg, PA area to "rebroadcast" from Philly, channels 17, 29 and 48. God Bless whoever did that! They were incredible channels compared to the local stuff.

They used to also own WDCA Channel 20 in Washington, DC before Paramount bought them for the UPN network, now Fox owns them along with WTTG as a duopoly, and they’re known as 5 Plus with more of the same programming as Channel 5 WTTG
