Matt Crafton completely exposed how broken the system is back in 2019 when he won the Truck Series championship as a winless driver. That should have been the wake-up call for NASCAR to dump this flawed points format and stage racing altogether. But instead of fixing it, Steve Phelps kept it going and didn’t even set a points limit on race winners, allowing drivers with one fluke win to sneak into the playoffs over more deserving, consistent drivers. It’s beyond frustrating that they didn’t take Crafton’s win as proof that the system needs an overhaul. This format just doesn’t reward true performance.
@otaviofrnazario3 ай бұрын
all points systems in US based series are broken. They allow for a winless champion and fans actually stand behind it with the consistency argument. Dillon won the Xfinity pre playoffs without a win in 2013 Points should be a limited supply. In a 40 car field, top 15 maximum

#AbolishtheNASCARPlayoffs I'm done. I can't defend this (and I never really defended it that much to begin with) And for the record, I'm not saying this just because Chris Buescher didn't make it in. The anger already set in before Darlington with what happened at Richmond and then Daytona happened and then the veil was finally lifted. The Rose-Colored Glasses finally came off and now I'm AS MAD AS HELL, AND I'M NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE!!!
@Arian89233 ай бұрын
Good choice for not watching anymore. NASCAR essentially punished Chris Buescher just for being consistent and being robbed at Kansas and Darlington. Chris Buescher’s season this year has to be one of the most heartbreaking NASCAR seasons ever, again, NASCAR essentially punished him, along with Bubba Wallace and Ross Chastain for no valid reason. I will never forgive NASCAR for allowing this to happen and as long as Phelps doesn’t abolish the playoffs, I certainly won’t be following NASCAR nor watching any new NASCAR races.

Me as a KFB fan doesn't give a shit he's not in the playoffs. Nascar has made a Championship crowing system that the drivers have to feel something up their asses to go balls to the wall on a specific round, best examples is Joey and Blaney (22/23). They felt some kind of spark and went hammer in the round of 8. Even how happy i was in 2015, thinking again it feels kind of souless (something like it idk). Kyle probably doesn't or wouldn't care as much If he wins another title (only if he probably won 7 he would feel something). My opinion, feel free to disagree.

@seannolan98573 ай бұрын
If Burton somehow pulls it off it wouldn't be the Wood Brothers first championship. They won the owner's championship in 1963. Reddick's status as the favorite is debatable. So long as Denny and Jordan refuse to sign NASCAR's new charter deal, we can pretty well guarantee that they will do anything in their power to make their lives miserable. Plus even if he does make the final four, Toyota's first priority will always be Gibbs. Bell's chances look far better.

I now really, really, REALLY want Harrison Burton to win the championship.

What NASCAR has done with the playoffs is totally unacceptable, disgusting, despicable, and downright unforgivable. They've completely devalued consistency and hard work by letting drivers with one lucky win leapfrog over those who’ve been strong all season. This format rewards fluke moments instead of true, season-long performance, and it’s killing the integrity of the sport. It’s a slap in the face to the drivers who grind week after week, and fans deserve better than this broken system. NASCAR has crossed the line, and it’s hard to see how they can come back from it without a major overhaul.

If Richmond hadn’t gone into overtime, Austin Dillon was set to win that race, but even then, he shouldn’t have made the playoffs over Ty Gibbs just because of one really good race. Dillon was well outside the top 25 in points for the entire regular season, being outside the top 30 for most of it as a matter of fact, while Gibbs has been in the top 10 in every single points format. It’s crazy to think that one lucky race could’ve put Dillon in over someone who's been consistently strong all season. The fact that this is even possible shows just how flawed the current system is.

You seem to scoff at those that call Alex Bowman underrated, yet the man is exactly that. When you consider the fact that people take "worst driver at HMS" so far that they treat him like he's trash, and then turn around and create rumors so bad that the man has to clarify with his own team that he's staying, I don't know how he can be anything other than underrated. He won fair and square this season against an American Le Mans series champion at a track most love, and somehow he still gets dumped on. Underrated and overhated describe Alex Bowman perfectly.

@Arian89233 ай бұрын
It’s likely that Austin Dillon wrecked Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin for the win at Richmond just because NASCAR completely dropped the cutoff rule for "win and you’re in." The desperation that comes with knowing one win can get you into the playoffs, no matter how the rest of your season went, leads to reckless driving like this. Dillon knew that a win would punch his ticket, so he pushed it to the limit, even if it meant wrecking others. This whole system encourages chaos and aggressive moves instead of clean, competitive racing. It’s ridiculous!

How I think it’ll go: We open with Austin cindric winning at Atlanta, followed by a Daniel Suarez win at the glen, and finished with a Chris buscher win at Bristol. Eliminated: Harrison Burton (need I explain why) Martin tried jr (bud went from 108 points up and almost a lock to 6 points from my pick of him missing the playoffs looking about as good as yours of KB missing) Joey Logano (he is crawling Inot the playoffs, and is the second or third worst road racer in the playoffs Alex bowman (is crawling into the playoffs even worse than Logano) Then we head to Kansas, where Elliot manages to improve on his near win from earlier in the year, Ryan blaney proving why he is one of the best plate racers, and Ty Gibbs getting his first every win. Eliminated this round are: Chase briscoe (I’m not betting against him after 2022, but I can’t see him making it any further, not good enough at roads or plates) BK (his shitty road racing skills are gonna bite him) Denny Hamlin (those 14 missed playoff points are gonna bite him) Kyle Larson (his overagression and being a wrecking ball at plates is gonna bite him Then in the round of 8, we open by Busch getting his first win of the season, followed by Reddick barely managing to hold of a hard charging Kyle Larson at homestead, and truex getting his final victory at, fittingly, Martinsville. Eliminated this round are: Daniel Suarez: (trackhouse isn’t near fast enough to make it any further) Austin cindric: (with no roads or plates this round, he doesn’t have a good shot, but he’s solid at martinsville, so let a guy dream) William byron: (his summer slump is worse than previous years, and even though I think he’s strong enough to make it this far, they’ve been off just ever so slightly, and I think that’s all it’s gonna take) Ty Gibbs: (he’s been pretty good this year, but not as good as the top four IMO. But, we’ve seen what he’ll do just to win, pair that with him facing elimination) Final four: Ryan blaney: been easily the best ford all year, and is gonna try to defend his title Christopher bell: been the best Gibbs car all year, and should be good for making it 3 in a row Chase Elliot: been really consistent all year, almost won the reg season with only one win Tyler Reddick: been really really good all year, my personal pick to win the title
