Love how your soaps are, as you say, “simple”. Many content creators make complicated (and very pretty) soaps, but they are just not practical for me. Your down-to-earth style and wisdom from years of soap making are invaluable!

Hi. This is the first time I am writing a public comment on KZbin for any video. Firstly what caught my attention to your channel were the topics! they are very relatable ones, if someone plans to start a business. Your channel can be the go-to channel. You have covered in detail, step-by-step process, giving attention to minute things like 'how to store the soap' etc. and yet so simple to understand. Really appreciate the efforts that you have put in to make the videos. I am not sure if online courses cover so much detailing too :D. Thank you so much ❤️😊

You have helped me so much getting my soap business started. Now I am almost making 40 to 50 lbs of soap 3-4 times a week. Also, I have started selling at few of the local farmer's market. I still get nervous discounting the water. This video was very helpful, since this year in California has been very dry and humid. I noticed you mentioned you went to India, can you do a video on what items you purchased there for your soap supplies. thanks you

Hi Elly, We , (I and my daughters - 13 and 15 years old) ran into your soap making videos and we were so hooked up. You give us inspiration to make soaps as gifts for coming holidays. Elly thank you for sharing such value information . Where I live the weather is hot and humid almost year around. I keep my cured soaps on a rack in the leaving room where there is good ventilation (have no other place to put them). Does Natural light ( no direct sunlight just the light coming through the windows) and artificial light may spoill the soaps as my livingroom is quite bright? Thank you in advance for your reply.😊

Natural light may fade your soap colours, but apart from that it shouldn't hurt. I've never experimented with that.

Thank you so much Elly. I will have to find something for curing process. Yesterday i started my first batch with your Castile soap recipe. I didn’t want to invest so much and my friend said that I don’t need to buy a stick blender , so I tried with the hand whisk and it took so long time as you said in the video. So that I ordered one from online. I can’t wait to use it with the next batch! Fingers cross! I hope it works!
@EllysEverydaySoapMaking4 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! If there's one thing that you really do need, it's the stick blender! You certainly don't need fancy moulds or racks or anything else, but without the blender soaps often separate and need re-blending/mixing. My stick blender that I've been using for 6 years now cost me $12 from kmart - a cheap one is all you need!
@fonphone28514 жыл бұрын
Hello Elly. As I am checking how is the first batch going during being set in the mold. It’s been 48 hours already, i could notice that it is set, ivory white color but it is still soft (with gently pressing on the surface by point finger) I could sneak peak on sides of silicone mold , I found no oil separation. I kept them covered in the blanket and put in the box (I saw other soap maker put in the foam box). I am quite sure that it is not ready to be cut. I thought that it probably be about the room temperature I keep where is too hot? I am afraid that it will be melt or the batter would not be developed. Please advise Elly.

Hi. Thank u so much for sharing just great info. Believe me i also live in a tropical climate and my soaps have become greasy due to humidity. Calcium chloride is not available like you showed its packaging. 1). Can i use silicon gel packets (easily available) instead of it? 2). Plz make a video on how to anchor fragrance oil in cp soaps for the long time? Normally, fragrance does fade away after sometime or completing insulation period, as i have noticed in my soaps. Thank U & Stay Blessed :-)
@EllysEverydaySoapMaking3 жыл бұрын
Hi, no the silica gel packets wont work well enough. I would just keep your soap in an airy place and consider a different recipe if your soaps are too soft. Coconut oil soap like this one is great for hot/humid climates kzbin.info/www/bejne/r4vFcpmdrKqegNU

Yes, very helpful, Elly. Thank you. I live in a humid climate (Hawaii) also, so I’m a bit concerned about curing. How long do you leave your new soaps on the racks in your laundry room? I have an open air carport maybe I can use. It is sheltered from the rain, but there’s a lot of air flow and things get dusty. Is the salt air a problem for you? Thank you again. 👍🏼💞🧼

Heyy Elly thank you for all these information. I appriciate your work. But i have serious question.😅😅 Can u tell me that?, what to do when the fragrance of essential oils evaporated while soaps are curing or after cure? Is there any sollution of that problem?, so that my soaps stay scented after cure period.
@AriaRyeSuety4 жыл бұрын
Elly, first off, you are amazing and this was such a great video. I do have a question though. I live in a very dry climate that sees extremely hot summers and very frigid winters (Canada). Would storing my soap on the racks until selling time be acceptable? Or would you recommend doing the shelving idea like you did? Thanks you much!
@EllysEverydaySoapMaking4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Aria, in a dry climate you can do either option! I would keep them in the open air for a few weeks, and if your cupboards are nice and dry then you could store them there (or in containers) to help the scent last better.

Hi Elly I store my soap in my basement, it's very dry and cool. However, my first bach of soap has no fragrance at all. What could be the cause, and can it be fixed? I love all your videos. You are a wonderful teacher.

Thanks Carmen. It's probably the EO or FO you used.

Hi, I really like your videos and I love how detailed you explain everything. I have one question and maybe someone could answer me that. In the country I'm living in, we don't really have dehumidifiers to buy. Germany has some pretty mean streaks of heat and humidity but they are so rare, it's mostly a week each year that could be a problem...so I'm looking for a rather quick and cheap solution. Would rice work? Like pouring dry rice into a drawer and place the soap within the rice?

Hi Ailean, great question! If you rarely have hot and humid weather, I would just store your soap on racks in the open. A week here or there won't negatively affect your soap. And your house will smell wonderful! That first few days can be a bit strong, but after that it's great.

Hi Elly, love your videos. It made me confident that I can make soap😊. I have a question my husband has severe psoriasis and I read that pine tar is good to add in. What's your opinion and have you ever used pine tar. I have watch several videos them making soap using pine tar. the mixture turns out real stiff.
@EllysEverydaySoapMaking4 жыл бұрын
Hi Sylvia, thank you for your nice feedback, I appreciate that. I was interested in pine tar soap when I first started, but I could never find a product to use here in Australia that I was satisfied would be good for skin (most of them made for horses hooves and had other ingredients). I have no idea about what the scientific research says about the use of pine tar soap for psoriasis, but if you're looking for a gentle soap that seems to work quite well with sensitive and troubled skin, then I'd be giving a plain castile soap a try before anything else. This is my recipe for that here kzbin.info/www/bejne/g6uni6epbs2dgdk I hope that helps a bit!

Thanks Ellie, your tips are great and such common sense. I get those plastic rack things from my greengrocer and they're good too for soap curing Luv n light x

Fantastic, thank you. Yes a plastic rack of some kind would be perfect!

Hi Elly, I just wanted to say I Love your channel! Soap and bread are the two things I have been wanting to learn for a while now and you have made me feel a little better about trying it. I also like the really natural ingredients you use and your positive vibe. I have watched your introductory type soap videos and I was just wondering how you went with the rectangular silicon mould after a while and whether it is worth investing in. what are the easiest moulds to use? I have some of those bamboo Kmart boxes already so I will most likely try those when I get some time. I am also in the Brisbane Area and would love some advise on the best places to buy ingredients from. I looked up the bayside soaps but I noticed they were out of a lot of ingredients. May just be the aftermath of the pandemic. Thanks again for your KZbin channel.

Hi, nice to hear from you! I love the silicone moulds, but my kmart ones with the non-stick baking paper liner are a favourite too. Both are relatively easy to use. I buy my oils from the supermarket if I can get them, my specialty oils I get from Escentials of Australia, I get most of my essential oils from them too. There are other suppliers around, many of which I'm probably not aware of because I have a good stock of EO's and don't make lots of soap too often. I would google the ingredients you're after and add 'brisbane' and see what comes up. The soap making facebook groups are a good help here too. Thanks for your feedback, I really appreciate it! :)

I am about to order bentonite clay for the first time but heard it is highly absorbent. Is it potentially problematic in highly humid conditions, especially if in a salt brine soap as a consequence? Is it a bad idea to use bentonite clay in salt brine soaps that have the habit of attracting moisture? Thanks
@EllysEverydaySoapMaking3 жыл бұрын
I have never had any troubles with it. I love all kinds of clays in my soap :)

Thank you Davane, I appreciate your suggestion! Tumeric soap is lovely - you can just add the dried powder to any soap recipe :) I will put that one on my video list though!

I’m keeping my honey and oats soap in the mold for two days is that good ? Then how long I have to keep it in the open before I use them
@EllysEverydaySoapMaking3 жыл бұрын
Only keep it in the mould until it is firm enough to cut. If you leave it too long it could become too hard! After that, you need to cure the soap for 4-6 weeks at least.
