Elly. I saw this video 3 months ago and said I want to do this. Today, looking at a gloomy day in the window, I decided to make this liquid soap ( first soap ever ); however, I went crazy with the blender, and it became super gluey quite fast, but it doesn’t look perfectly mixed/blended (some parts are white, others yellow). Will this paste become liquid again if I leave it on hot setting of my electric slow cooker? Otherwise I’ll have to discard it because it shouldn’t be safe to use 😢

Hi Elly, I just tried this recipe (differences in that I used frozen goat milk in my lye mixture and some differences in oils and no fragrance or E.O.) and I had it in my mind that if I put the mould in the freezer that I could avoid the eruption, but my eruption was super dramatic and made a bit of a mess in the freezer. I took the mould out and let it sit room temperature at the barn and I’m hoping to return to it later this afternoon with some salvageable for personal use. I am curious: do you think I can avoid that eruption if I just leave it out in the open instead of putting it in a fridge or freezer? I’m just a bit confused at what to do next and just wanted your opinion before I try another batch. Additional details: My oils were right about 160 F when I added the lye mixture. I wasn’t getting much trace action with the whisk so I used a stick blender for a little bit. What do you think I can do to prevent that explosion when I try again in a couple days?

I’m more than halfway tempted to just remove the honey from the whole recipe. I can’t seem to figure out what else I can do about it since it will accelerate an already high temp required by the beeswax melting point 🤔

Hi Elly, when giving calculations, can you give the amount in ounces, grams, pounds, or cups? Not everyone can figure out what percentage you are talking about.
@EllysEverydaySoapMaking
@EllysEverydaySoapMaking 2 күн бұрын
We need to use percentages to start with, that's how you can work out the recipe in any unit. You start with the total oil amount in grams or ounces, then tell the calculator what percentage you want of each oil, and it works it out.

Hello everyone! I m a bit new to all this but it is so interessting to watch. May I ask why does the soap needs to cure for 4 to 6 weeks? Thank you so much for answering.

Great tutorial. I make soap for several years now and i usually use a very similar recipe (caustic soda, water, olive oil and coconut fat) and it works awesome. Just one hint, you should add citric acid (and more caustic soda, use a soap calculator) to prevent soap glue (not sure this is propperly translated) if you live in an area with very chalky water like south germany

I like the idea of making soap that was a great demonstration, but only question is? The lye it seems very concerning because you have to wear gloves cover your eyes to prevent burning. Why is it necessary to include the lie if it can burn I’m not very familiar with live, but it sounds pretty bad. Why do you use it?

I’ve been using Rice Bran Oil for years! - I love it! And have used it to make ‘Castile’ Soaps (in the style of) 💓 AndYes! I’ve long since found that the lather is better. It has similar qualities to Olive albeit an higher Vit E quotient 😊 Keep EVOO for dietary consumption 😊😊

In the US rice bran is expensive and you can't get it in grocery stores; if you find it, it's ~500ml bottle, not a big jug.
