Yes totally agree re music. Very happy to have found you Elly. Some youtubers do have just soft background music instead of speaking at all. With the ingredients and instructions slowly appearing on the screen, that works too if they get the speed of the written info just right. And choice of music is quite important too. No headbangers please🙉.but both music and voice simultaneously has made me switch off some youtubers. Thanks Elly for your calm and very clear way of passing on your knowledge. I have only recently discovered you so am going through your videos when I can.👌

Love your videos, I’ve been making Aloe soap for years, I blend my aloe in my Vita mix on juice blend then I strain it before I freeze it. Also I infuse all my olive oils with calendula for the added benefits. You can infuse with any herb. One time I had some of the green leaf left in and the bars streaked beautifully, totally unexpected.
@EllysEverydaySoapMaking3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that Donna, yes, there are SO many ways to make aloe soap! I actually tested the difference between straining the juice before and after adding the sodium hydroxide, and found it way easier to strain after it was made into a lye solution. Somehow it seems to separate the pulp from the juice so much easier! The calendula sounds lovely. I adore calendula soap. Actually I'm planning a video on that soon :)

So I made my aloe soap, but I used a silicone rectangle mold rather than using paper as you did. I left it to saponify for 5 days and the bottom was still very soft, but I was anxious to take it out, I should have waited, it was a gooy mess. But I mashed it back together and let it sit for another day before slicing it. I think for this particular soap it is better to use the parchment paper instead of silicone. 😊

From Garden to Bath Room. I love aloe Vera soaps, made a few, now I shall try the fillet method of Aloe, I have actually blended the aloe and lye just before using to try to rid lumps, it does work, but be careful when blending. Strained it as well. A lovely end result you achieved. Many thanks.

Thanks Kezza, that's interesting! I have blended the aloe straight into the oils, and it works, but this method is the best that I've tried so far. I like it without the pulpy bits :)

I used this recipe to practice my calculations about soap making which really help me a lot!! I finally got it when it comes to getting the 70% of oils in the total batch of soap, the essential oils of 3% or 4% as well (ofc I used the 4% because that's what you used in your recipe just so I could check it out when I use my calculator and see if I got the same correct answer or grams in your essential oils used in your aloe soap haha) and even tho it didn't show here in this video about how exactly you got the calculations in your essential oils- I got that as well from watching your other videos about it which I love it! I learn more and more everyday from you! The only thing that got me confused was the liquid to lye ratio- I tried using the soapcalc but for some reason it didn't match to the grams of your oils, water, and lye. So I'm so confused but I guess I can managed it since in the video you strained the pulp out of the aloe. I finally learned as to how I'm gonna plan, calculate and create my own soap recipe based from all of the videos I've seen in your channel. I REALLY REALLY LOVE THEM. Not only you help me to learn as a beginner but you also inspired me to make more and creative soaps, and then maybe start a small business of my own

I find nothing better than an aloe vera soap. Here in the states I use aloe vera juice for my liquid all the time, even when I'm using goats milk and coconut milk in the recipe. I too am not certainly how much of the aloe vera stays, but I do know that there is a difference when I use it to mix my lye as compared to just using distilled water. Beautiful soap as always Elly. Thank you, Janet

THank you Janet, I agree, I have been trying one of the aloe test batches I made, and it's so creamy with a great lather. Can't wait to do a lather test video and talk about it more with you all. Thanks for commenting :)

I just love watching your videos I think I’m addicted! I just started my soapmaking journey. I watched your Alevera video and made my first batch last night. When I looked at it this morning I have a big crack running lengthwise down my soap. I’m not sure what I did wrong. I was hoping you might know? Thanks for all your wonderful videos!

It sounds like it got a bit overheated, that's ok though! It's only cosmetic, the soap will be great. That happened to me big time in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/qoemm5aFmtyYrrc
