Thank you Greg, i think i've seen the mechanical clock in movies but didn't realize it was a real product you could buy , and the 4K box makes it available as many have a panel tv, really loving your channel and i have recently purchased a Casio wave ceptor on the strength of your very detailed review, and it's a great watch really easy to work.

Greg, I enjoyed your presentation of the Geochron 4K! I like the Geochron, but I don’t think I have a place for it in my house and most likely my wife would hate it. In thinking about your analogy of the mustang verse the Elantra, in keeping it in the horological context, I would compare it to a Rolex watch verse a smart watch. The Rolex is a finely crafted mechanical/automatic watch (like the mechanical Geochron) to the smart watch that has all the tech features (like the Geochron 4K). The Geochron 4K is able to display so much more information, but the Rolex is so appreciated for its artistry in mechanical excellence. That’s why the Rolex cost so much more. The design, materials, and labor to produce such a fine piece of machinery is the reason. The value equation is up to the eye of the beholder. Thanks.

When it comes to watches I suppose I would still rather have a few dozen G-Shocks (Hyundais) instead of one Rolex (Revology Mustang) so I guess I’m inconsistent in my taste. But maybe when I make my fortune things will change. Meanwhile, this Geochron Atlas hit the sweet spot, since it’s a wonderful version of something I’ve wanted for decades! Already, my kids like it and my wife seems to like seeing something peaceful on the TV screen instead of the noisy shows I often watch. Right now I prefer the Geochron over TV shows (and news broadcasts) too. I leave it on for hours and hours.

I set it up in the family room as the default view on our family TV whenever we’re not watching a show. Now the kids complain when I try to move it to somewhere else, like my office. Every day it’s looking more and more like I will need two of these!

I think the OLED technology can still have problems with burn in. Might be worth looking into before letting the Geochron run continuously.

I bought my Geochron about 10 days ago. My monitor is a 4K Hisense 65" tv. Installed it easily right out of the box. Plugged it into the recommended hdmi 1 port on the back of my tv and let it hang (per the instructions) so the unit doesn't overheat. It is light so it doesn't pull on the hdmi cable. The box comes with everything you need to set the Geochron up. I connected it to my internet connection (wirelessly) and started it up. Very easy to install and I am thrilled with the 4K visual. The Geochron 2 also has lifetime updates. I just LOVE IT! Btw, this is selling on Amazon for $499. Don't buy it from them. Go directly to the site: www.geochron.com/4k and buy it there. Their price is normally $449 but you can also get a coupon for another 10% off. It's well worth the money! P.S. Greg ... thanks for the video and supporting the developers :)

This is neat, but why not an Android app connected to your TV running on Roku or Nvidia shield? It feels redundant having that much processor power devoted to a mono device
@GoodTimekeeper3 жыл бұрын
According to the folks with Geochron it just takes too much processing power to render these multiple layers of 4K graphics in real time. They had to have a dedicated computer to do it. Anything else would just be too sluggish.
@SuperMrgentleman3 жыл бұрын
@@GoodTimekeeper Gosh I guess. The NVIDIA Shield has a lot of processing power, oh well

just to add it's a shame timeticker.com has finished i used it for 20 years, the owner blames google for its demise. don't know if you remember Active Earth software from back in the windows 98 days, think i still have in on a cd not tried yet in Windows 10 but it's a lovely program look a bit like the Geochron

I would get this in an instant, but the presence of the logo, huge, is a deal breaker. If I want that in my office, of course it's not acceptable to have a shinny logo front and center that I would constantly have to look at.

I barely notice it anymore. It’s like the company logo on the front of a car.

I don’t know. When I look at real time flight tracking apps there still seems to be a lot going on. But the Geochron Atlas has a tab for “Live” content and it’s the weather and satellite stuff. The shipping and air traffic layers aren’t necessarily listed as live in the Geochron menus.

@@GoodTimekeeper Thanks. I wish this digital version had more elegant fonts but still a good bargain. :))
@GoodTimekeeper4 жыл бұрын
I’m pleased to see how much the mechanical and digital Geochrons look alike on camera. Even the backlighting on the maps appears the same much more than I expected. I’m guessing that a lot of elements in the design of the digital Geochron (including fonts) is very closely based on the way things look in mechanical Geochrons.
@murathanakordeon4 жыл бұрын
@@GoodTimekeeper I think it will all depend on the monitor you will use.
