Elmshorn hat vor Jahrzehnten den Wandel von einer Industriestadt zur Wohnstadt verpasst. Im Innenstadtbereich sammeln sich alte Industriegebäude. Vorallem die Ecke Ex-Krämer - Kibeck - Vormstegen - Berliner Strasse. Auch der sich anschließende Marktplatz mit Markthalle und seinem verseuchten Boden. Die Köllnflocken Werke mit den alten Hafenanlagen. Elmshorn ist ausserdem Verkehrsknotenpunkt der Bahn. Hier trennen sich die Gleise Richtung Norden. Deshalb der große innerstädtische Bereich hinter dem Bahnhof. Im Gegensatz dazu hat Elmshorn mit dem Liether Wald, dem Krückaupark und dem Stadtpark auch seine schönen Ecken mit viel grüner Fläche. Zum wohnen und leben hat Elmshorn alles was man braucht. Das Innenstadtsterben ist ein bundesweites Problem das natürlich auch vor Elmshorn nicht halt macht. Vor 20 Jahren war es in der Innenstadt deutlich geschäftiger als heute mit viel reichhaltigerem Angebot. Alles in allem wird der Titel des Videos Elmshorn nicht gerecht. Da hätte der liebe Flexxen eher in Pinneberg Halt machen müssen. Da sieht die ganze City aus wie von unten durch ne Betonplatte gedrückt.

Good video! The inner city is quite nice, with many buildings from the age of the German Kaisers. The outer quarters look like everywhere else. (Several times we had to look for a petrol station there. When we use car sharing to go up the West Coast, the cars always seen to be low on fuel near Elmshorn ...)

I was born in Pinneberg, and lived in Tornesch until I was 18. Elmshorn, and especially the train station, is still ugly as hell. I used to go to the dancing school when I was a kid, and the Apollo Cinema closed about 20 years ago. Shame, a ticket was dirt cheap, 1 Deutsche Mark in the nineties.

I like this video. I watched it beforeI came here, and now watching it again, I "think" I can see that it was shot on aSunday, around midday, from the shadows.Ugly city? I disagree. It has its charm, and its history, some of it seriously, really bad. but overall, pretty normal as city development goes.

You're right, it was shot on Sunday, June 12 around 12:30! I highly agree with you on the other part, too. German cities without truly old historic old towns kinda all look similar to each other I think 😁

@@FlexxenRandomPlaces Agree. Elmshorn's history goes back 800 something years, yet it was severly damaged in WWII. Pro Tip, The walking street you went along is called Koenigstrasse. At the top, just beoree you pass the church, on the left is an historic building. Now it is the Library. Before WWI it was a brewery - After all this time, they are still, "messing with peoples minds."

Jede, wirklich jede Stadt, Großstadt, jedes Dorf, etc hat seine "schönen Ecken". Elmshorn hat einfach viel zu wenige davon! Ich weiß warum ich weg gezogen bin, das gesamte Stadtbild wirkt sich auf die Mentalität der Bewohner aus.

War als Kind / Teenager oft in Elmshorn ( wohnte in Tornesch) und ich habe es dort immer gehasst. Alles so altbacksch, die Leute alle mürrisch und vom Leben enttäuscht. Habe mir das wohl nicht eingebildet, dass es auch mit am Standort lag, dass es mir damals so schlecht ging.

Ich bin wegen der Arbeit nach ELH gezogen. Ich finde die Stadt wunderbar. Habe jahrelang in Hamburg auf der Veddel gewohnt, da ist es dermaßen asozial und dreckig, da weiß man was man an Elmshorn hat. Es ist wunderbar hier, und die Zuganbindung is super wenn ich mal nach HH oder Kiel fahren will. Auch die Mieten sind hier billiger als in HH und die Straßenkriminalität ist gering, im Vergleich zum Multikultiviertel HH-Veddel, hier kann man morgens los ohne Angst zu haben ausgeraubt und erstochen zu werden, hier in ELH kann man einkaufen ohne erleben zu müssen wie die Kassiererin erschossen wird. Elmshorn ist einfach wunderbar!

It's haaaard, you know. I personally don't like it soo much there as well. There are some nice corners, like the ones I've visited here, but the places you arrive in the city (highway or railway station) are really shabby and the part of the city shown here in this walk is rather secluded from a large part of the city by large roads and railway tracks. Still, it's by far not the ugliest city!
