With Diablo 4, he frequently appeared on stream with top streamers like Rob. Elon clearly knows a lot about Diablo 4, but he is not an expert, and Rob tells him what build to use. Everybody assumes that Rob and his community gives Elon all the items, so nothing extremely dishonest is happening. It's happening live on stream. Nobody thinks he did it alone. With PoE2, Elon hasn't been streaming (probably too busy with politics), so you wouldn't have had a bunch of fanboys give him all the items. There is no evidence he actually cheats in Diablo. You could see him play the game with knowledge of it. The only thing he didn't do was to play POE2 but that's because he doesn't have any time to lay it, especially recent months,how could he, he's involved in everything from his companies to politics. Even POE2 was just used to test Starlink, not to prove his gaming capabilities.

It's a metaphor. Elon didn't start LIFE at level one, why do people believe he would take the trouble to start at level one in a game? That's for wagers and serfs. Do you have any idea how much harder it is to get form level 1 to 97 without help or cheating? It much easier to start at level 97. Some people's parents, grandparents, and in some cases great grandparents, put them in the position to start the game at level 90 or 96 at birth. Some people start at level 1 but their character is starts of with high charisma, good looking with a great voice, and has a high IQ, and that helps them move fast through the levels. But a lot had great grandparents and parents that played the game really well, and handed the controller to their kids at level 96. This is the way life works.

Gamers need to provide relatable context and analogy to people outside the niche POE community. His livestream is like saying you're a Minecraft top-tier speedrunner but not knowing how to chop down a tree; an elite League of Legends player but not knowing you can level up character's skills; a Binding of Isaac dead god achievement grinder without knowing you can long press R to restart the game... Ive played video games for over 30 years now very day of my life since im 6. im definitely good -im not great im not the best. i won actual monetary prices in esports way back. i can beat eldening and all souls titles no problem, i ranked in the top 3 pvpers in new world on my server. Im good - and i understand to be the best in a game you dont just need skill and experience, you have to study the mechanics and systems of the game like its science class, you have to no life the game for a long time....theres lots of boring shit i cant be bothered to do anymore like finding out glitches and looking into code to get how the mechanics actually work cause descriptions in game are often inaccurate and if you are among the best - you did all the theory work outside the game. And what i see, if you are great at one game...you are likely still pretty good at other games cause you have a base understanding of how games work. If you are great at one shooter this translates into being good at shooters cause you have the basic skills of aiming and dodging. If you are great in PoE id expect you to be good at eldenring cause you have good reaction and can dodge. So....on the fact alone that Elon sucked at Eldenring i dont believe hes any good at PoE or Diablo 4

Yeah, you talk about results not some abstract greatness. For instance, I used to play quake2 like 8h a day and the highest I got was to the semi-finals on a local Estonian tournament. Most already knew who the greatest players in each region was and the absolute global top10 were kind of superstars inside the community. The reason why he claimed he was so good in both Diablo 4 and PoE2 was probably (at least partly) because of the reaction to his Elden Ring build. It was so bad it was fairly plausible that it was actually his own build. He was mocked relentlessly for how bad it was. In his own mind he never understood that he was more relatable that way, or that people thought it was great that he actually played. He only understood the mocking, so then "I'll show myself as a good player then". Is what I'm assuming (I'm not justifying)
