I remember this idea being on one of my favourite SCI-FI programmes when I was a kid in the 70s ( SPACE 1999 ) had a pod that travelled really fast down tunnels, well done Elon you have not only amazed me again but now I will have to watch SPACE 1999 all over again. Thanks yer Genius .

This is very doable, but there are a few challenges along the way, but there are enough smart people on the team to handle those as it is just a combination of existing technologies bumped up a notch. We have worked on something similar. It is great tech!

This isn't Musk Visionary the Idea has been around for decades before Elon only the Name and speed is different. he probably read the same scientific papers that my grandpa did. My Grandpa helped me with a school science project. He obtained a couple of Store vacuum containers, HO bogie wheels powered and unpowered, fixed to containers, HO brass track, HO controller and power supply for the rail, an old vacuum cleaner to pull a slight vacuum, to the plastic pipe containing the track and the container vehicles .

U can in the tube take air out of tube so it's like space so there isn't any resistance inside tube and have special doors for each stop to keep space sealed and allow passengers get out .

Hyperloop is not a new idea, it was around long before musk talk about it. China has been researching this idea and technology years years ago. Now this concept may soon be realised.

Somehow the whole concept has been lost. The idea was to bring the vacuum of space down to earth and achieve orbital speeds. Energy is required to accelerate at each end but gravity is effectively cancelled.😊

Umm..almost all banks have "hyperloop"at their drive-ups where it awaits your transaction...you open up the little door with a press of a button...there you will find a cylindrical tube where you put in your transaction...and then you put it back in the tube and WHoosh it travels into the bank at a high rate of speed...and vise versa...when the teller sends it back...I am 100% sure that is where Elon Musk got the Concept.

I hope they have exit doors spaced out ever so frequently in case there is a failure and the pod is stuck in one spot there should be a way to maneuver and control the pod to the nearest exit that should be displayed for you to know only for emergency reasons only oxygen should be another concern considering the closed capsule and the vacuum environment that you are contained in through your travel communication should be another priority these are things that are not talking about which is a concern to me

I think it's a viable alternative that has great possibilities towards a healthy environment. Safety & security concerns are preeminent and as someone previously commented, affordability. i believe it is not energy profitable no matter of magnetic field or Vacuum If it run in the pipe for what reason the nose of it tended to the ground ?
