True and if it works that would be a giant incremental step for the automotive world. Then we are left with a grid which could not possibly support the 100% demands of democrats to shift to total electric homes and EVs. Funny as it is the same democrats who have done their best to eliminate the #2 safest method of electric power generation, nuclear. The only method safer than nuclear is solar which by definition is highly intermittent when energy requirements are 24/7/365. And yes, there are statistically more deaths/megawatt hours generated, for wind than for nuclear.

Uranium 235 hs a energy density of 24,000,000 kWh per kg We could probably get much much much better battery density if we used heavier elements but the issues with that is turning the energy in to electricity A battery with 1000wh per kg would lose around 300-500wh per kg to heat The battery he is talking about here only runs at 500wh because any higher would cause the extra power to be drained by the heat production Its less about density of power per kg and more about drawing the power out without losing it to other means Li Air battery :1000wh per kg 95% efficient just as long as you run it below 500 wh This means you are losing 50% of your total power to safety and to stop heat disapation. Compare that to a Lead Acid battery which while only having a 100wh per kg it runs at 80-90% efficiency at full power These batterys are brand new, they are not fully developed but if they can find a way to bring them up in power density and then not require them to be ran at lower ratings for increased efficiency we could see all electronics being upgraded with these

I spent an entire Engineering career working around negative people who would attempt to destroy every new idea before it was evaluated and this thread contains many of those same people. Given the % of aluminum available and it's ease of recycling, it would be insane not to evaluate it as much as possible. In the EV world, by far, not even close, the greatest enemy of everybody is GOVERNMENTS forcing this before the technology has a chance to reach maturity. And, not everyone is like me who can charge at home with power generated by clean Niagara Falls Hydro-power. For others, EVs may be the worse possible choice so again the #1 enemy will remain GOVERNMENT.
