It's not just that, it's doing it super cheap. There will be tech similar to what Neuralink does, and some that already exists partially, but its all extremely expensive. Neuralink goal is to make it cheap and affordable even for people who have little to no income (like disabled people).

The reason we don’t know much about the brain is because half the studies people want to do are unethical lol. Messing with the brain is incredibly risky, so it’s really hard to get studies approved.

It's an amazing time for science and I hope they will be able to get more staff and participants because the data they are collecting with just one person is off the charts. IN THE MEAN TIME the stress of life and traumas that we suffer can and should be released and there are ways and means such as the Consciousness Transformation Technique that is also helping people right now that doesn't require surgery, just time and consistence. Knowing how are brain works is great, but understanding how much trauma our brains have gone through and how that affects us daily is immense. I wish the Neuralink team and those who are doing other studies all the best of luck!

Trying to figure out the algo which highlights words in the subtitles - most lines have one word highlighted and just a few have none. I didn't recognize a pattern which words get highlighted, so it might be random, just like which lines have any highlights at all. I suppose a phoneme-based AI has been used to generate accurate enough timestamps to highlight which word is currently being spoken, explaining why it skips over really short words

Ok, I like this dude.. but he really needs to stop talking about how much work he’s done. I mean let’s face it, he’s paralyzed, and he can either do nothing.. or play Mario kart all day. Of course he’s going to be using it all the time. His contributions and the contributions of the engineers are not equal. They deserve 99.9% of the credit.
