I so agree with many of you, this group tends to be forgotten and or overlooked, but you can't find a bad song that they put out. I also, instinctively can hear a 70's or early 80's song come on the radio and start singing right along, word for word.

Good on you, you got to do the most amazing thing in life and bring a life joy, peace and bring it to a long journy to finally be at rest with a wonderful life. I do not cry for your because I am sad for you, I cry because you brought me a wave of emotion with a simple sentance. Live well, you loved well and they ARE waiting for you with great excitment. Can't really be "game-changers" when your entire sound is based on The Beatles' late '60s period. Jeff Lynne literally said that ELO's objective was to pick up where The Beatles left off. I love how he added in the line ringing at the beginning; it really adds to the song, for those of us old enough that we lived through a time where there were phones that didn't have an answering machine or voicemail, and the phone just rang and rang sometimes when there was someone we REALLY wanted to talk to.

My dog who I've had since I was 5 years old just passed away today. She'll never be able to see my graduation or anything that comes after, but in life she was suffering from a terminal illness which rendered her unable to do pretty much anything. I have no idea how long my grief is going to last, and how much longer I'll be bawling my eyes out because of her, but this song has helped me out a lot. Seeing her pass onto the other side has left me lonely, and I wish I had a telephone line to communicate to her with. There's clearly been a lot of heart and emotion poured into this song's lyrics and composition, and it's really nice to have something to resonate with.

Saying that Jeff Lynne has powerful vocals is a massive understatement lol. Dudes got serious pipes, and is a literal genius song writer. There are a lot of people who don't even realize the full scope of his talent as a musician song writer. Not only is he responsible for most ELO songs, as well as his Solo music, but he's written hit songs for the likes of The Beatles, as well as solo songs for Paul, Ringo, and George. He's written for artists like Tom Petty, Bob Dylan, Roy Orbison, Brian Wilson, and Olivia Newton-John, and even to groups like the Pussycat Dolls. And he's still going strong today by playing shows and touring. To say that he has been one of the most influential rock musicians of all time is even an understatement lol. There are Jeff Lynne fans out there in the world that have no idea they are even Jeff Lynne fans haha.
