OMG I get that all the time "why don't you just melt snow instead of carrying water in??" THEY DON'T UNDERSTANNNDDDDDDDDD. And then when I do melt snow I get all kinds of lectures on how I'm doing it wrong because I didn't explain to them every single detail of how I did it. ugh. Losing battle lol. Great vids friends! Cheers!

Having snow available ‘just in case’ is a gift most don’t think about having for emergencies - but better to carry water in than to melt the snow. I have a rustic vacation cabin in the mountains back east that has electricity, but no running water. I always try to keep 30 gal on hand at any given time no matter the season, which will usually last almost 2 weeks. I get my water from a spring in town most times, but will buy it if I need to when I first land at the cabin. It definitely makes you appreciate and conserve water!

We lived in a fifth wheel trailer for 5 years. Without water, and without electric most of the time. Hauling water becomes a huge part of life and all important. More so is to find a way to stay warm and dry. I see your wood stove and I think to myself, Awesome! We just never had one, but it sure would have been the bomb. The coldest it got for us is down in the single digits, in Arkansas. Over all, I was okay with that lifestyle, except for not having running water to do dishes and cleaning ourselves. I think the thing I missed the most was having access to clean water so to wash my hands. Love your story, love your good attitudes, love you guys!

And at the top of the windshield and tarp edges in the door so it couldn't blow off..essentially like a square bowl, Snow was clean and piled high and bonus windshield would stay clean no scraping off ice ..down side it takes foreeeevvvver..

HI, I ran across one of your video's from 2019 when you were snowed in. I have lived off grid most of my life. When my solar isn't charging with the sun I run a homemade generator made from a 1974 Chevy Alt. and a Harbor freight 6.5 hp motor. Cheaper than running your car. Also the seal on the camper door can be sprayed with Pam cooking spray to prevent it freezing shut, works well on car door as well. One other way to melt snow is to keep a pot next to your wood stove and fill it with snow. Way cheaper than running propane to melt it.

Quick before I head out...I thought of filling pots or plastic containers, having them in your scamp. The moisture in the air inside your scamp may condense and drip off items cold from the snow packed inside them. As long as the outside of the container is clean and non toxic. Or wipe with clean rag to collect the water. May take longer to get water or do a few small cans? I hope you can use this principle; I leave the logistics to you. (you would not have to worry about the "extras" from our flying troll friends. Also the woodstoves frequently make a pot to boil water that semi wrap around the pipe, seen them on other channels, on several models. Your camp coffee pot works too. They have water storage cans that can take freezing I think they are made of the same plastic in which the ice chests with the ice pack you put water in and freeze at home; its made from the same type of plastic. I hope you guys make out ok. Love yas!
