I'd like to be the first to comment. Thank you again for another wonderful video, Martin. It was also relaxing to watch as much as it was for you to make, I hope? I like your last point about being culturally aware for an international audience. I teach a few female students in the Middle East, and as I'm male, the camera is nearly always turned off, so I am looking at a blank screen. At first, I found this quite challenging as I couldn't read my student's facial expressions or anything - something I've had to quickly get used to respecting a different culture/religious predisposition. Have you taught in this style as well? I'm sure you have with the years of teaching under your belt.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment and I am pleased you enjoyed my ramblings. I once taught a diplomat's daughter from Iran. I once greeted the mother in the usual fashion but as soon as I extended my hand to say hello, and she withdrew immediately, I realised that I made a cultural faux pax. I apologised and proceeded to convey my message to say that her daughter had made progress during the lesson and was pleased that she was contributing well during the lesson. I apologised once again and then thanked her for her understanding. It is sometimes difficult to juggle between teacher and recognition between other cultures but having the pleasure to teach English to a range of nationalities has opened my eyes to a variety of cultures. I am so pleased to have the job as an English teacher and I really do appreciate you sharing your experience as well. See you next in our next episode. 😊
