This whole album is fantastic. A work of genius from one of the best songwriting teams in rock history: Elton John and Bernie Taupin.

Only Elton John can lead off a stellar album with an eleven-minute-plus song in which he doesn't sing a note for over five minutes.

He has started ever single concert that he has done with this song since it came out in 1973. And today he has the same drummer and guitarist as he did then. Its spectacular with a light show and everything. High energy jam. You need to see it LIVE.

I’d like to say for some of us, but I can only speak for myself, we sometimes need a short break from the problems and stresses in our lives and to be able to come on here and find enjoyment in watching a really nice guy experiencing things for the first time that I had experienced years ago. Keep being you man and keep these awesome reactions comin. Be well.🤙 Mike

Great reaction. Thanks for doing this. It seemed you really enjoyed it. This one is one of his major masterpieces. Back in the day when radio didn't play anything over 3 minutes or so, this song because a huge hit and was always played in its entirety, which was definitely not common. I must have seen Elton live no less that 12 times back in the day and this song always started everything concert. Lights low, dry ice all over the stage and that intro..talk about epic!

My introduction to Elton John was on a battery powered radio living in a cabin with no electricity and no running water (faucet outside the house brought water down the hill from the natural spring) and nearest neighbors were half mile away and nearest house (and possibly nearest road) in one direction was over 60 miles away on the other side of the forests and some serious mountains. Crazy to have to move off the farm to a cabin in the woods to finally hear something that wasn't country music. How we got reception on that radio living where we were...I just don't know. Oh, the song was "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" which played on the radio a lot at that time. True story.
@waynebrown32663 жыл бұрын
Anyway, I can't see or hear "Yellow Brick Road" without being reminded of spending a winter in that cabin in the woods as a kid and hearing the song on that radio that we only got to play for an hour most days so as not to use up the batteries too fast.

Hopefully by now you have realized this is two songs. There is no intro. If you can’t tell where one stops and the other starts you need to listen to this again as it is really easy to pick out.
