Drew Clapp I’m just saying. Also, the 80’s saw MTV, something that really accelerated the dumbing down of mainstream music. A lot of 80’s music was god awful hair metal or cheesy pop that hasn’t aged well. My point is that the 80’s were the beginning of the downfall of mainstream music, a fall that still continues.

The intro is so great I almost regret there's a full band to play with him.. I wish I could hear a piano/voice version of this from this period. I saw his Cannes 2019 version and it' still a killer. This being said.. the band is great, the cameos funny and the whole thing is powerfully impressive.

The tone is starting to deepen and get rough from the cocaine use and overwork. But the range is still there. Even that would be gone a few months later and once Elton had the operation to fix the damage, his voice was never the same again.
