I was there. At the time, I had seen 35 years of great concerts ( including iElton in 1976). This one ranks up with the absolute best I’ve ever seen. A guy who played like he was playing his last show, in front of only what that hockey arena in Duluth could hold. Some 10,000 people tops were there. An incredible musician, who did not hold back one bit for a smaller venue. A guy who throughout the evening, thanked the audience and told them that they were the reason he plays. A hugely talented and gracious display. I’m so glad I was there.

SO much more than just a piano balladeer-he can work out complex classical pieces by ear, and is just extremely talented.

Nobody even mentions just how much of a genius composer he is and how beautiful and clean of a piano he plays, its just amazing. I remember when he hit the scene in America back in the 70's, my older brother turned me on to him 😮

A few months before this performance I saw Elton John at Riverside City College in California, during his first American tour. He came out on stage dressed in simple clothes and did the entire concert alone at the piano, playing hits from the Elton John album and Tumbleweed Connection. What a treasure for the world.

Forget all of the later ridiculousness, the hype, the excess, the pop: this was Elton John at his simplistic, talented best. Him, a pano, his voice - and the lyrics of Bernie Taupin. Sublime B-)
