I started learning guitar about 6mo ago. I’m retired and this thing has completely blown me away. Ive never been interested in playing an instrument my whole life. After accidentally finding Marty and now this song , I’m in love with the guitar more than ever. I’ve never been an Elton John fan but this song and Marty’s guitar version has struck a big chord in my heart. I’m so moved and inspired and I guess that was what I was looking for in my life. I certainly have had a full life and I’ve tried to grab every chance at adventure that came my way. Not long ago I was told I may or may not survive an operation….actually three different times. This probably sounds like a bunch of drama but, part of me feels like I survived for this experience. I’ve learned so many songs from Marty and several other online instructors. This is definitely an awesome time to learn guitar with such an incredible resource. Thank you so much for your gift of knowledge! Also thank you Elton John for such a beautiful song. I’m so inspired I also took up the Lap guitar and Irish whistle…lol and next soon the keyboard and piano….why not?

First song I ever learned on guitar back in 1975 out of an Elton John songbook with old block chords above the measures (old school). Sat on the steps of home I grew up in and strummed all night until fingers got the hang of basic chords. I had just graduated high school. I'll enjoy revisiting this one.

I think the capo should be on the 3rd fret to match the original song. But it's a great video. Thanks!

Oh for crying out loud, if you're going to show people how to play a song the way the original artist recorded it--GET THE CHORDS right!! EVEN if they just might he "hard" And if you're using a capo bar.--Get it in the RIGHT KEY. The song is in Eb. the capo should then be on the THIRD--not the second fret. Your first two lines should then be C- Fmaj7, G/B, Em --then Am, Am/G, F#m7b5, F
