Keifer started Ironworks Records. He, also, founded one of the musicians/bands that absolutely changed my life, and course for the type of music I decided to make - Rocco DeLuca and The Burden. They even released a documentary, called ‘I Trust You To Kill Me.’ I had watched it so many times, I almost wore it out. My first show, was seeing ‘em open for Mat Kearney (who, also, changed my life, in a lot of ways - especially, after seeing him play a show of less than 3 dozen people, at my hometown university of Chico State, an has become a very well known recording artist, now), at The Great American Music Hall, in San Francisco. It was VH1’s ‘You Outta Know’ tour. I even have a photo, of meeting him. It was, easily, the first spiritual experience I had ever had, in my 17 years of existence. About two years later, they were opening for John Mayer, at The Hollywood Bowl, for two nights - I freakin’ mixed the two different start times up, and missed ‘em; even drove all the way from Nor Cal, to see ‘em. Though, that might - I ended up meeting Ryan Carmen, Rocco’s drummer. Who, also, drums for Keiffer’s band. As well as Greg, the percussionist. Ryan was so kind, and went and made sure to get everyone’s autographs, for me. I was 19, at the time. About five years, after that, after I had moved to LA. I had gone and watched Rocco play some solo shows, a handful of times, though, he kinda fell off due to his own personal demons. One night, I went to my favorite home-bar, The Burgundy Room, on Cahuenga, in Hollywood, where I was at, almost every night.. I ran into both Ryan and Greg. I tapped Greg on the shoulder, and asked if he was part of Rocco DeLuca and The Burden - and how I was, easily, their biggest fan. Greg immediately ran to get Ryan, and when I shared with Ryan, who I was - he happened to remember me, from the John Mayer show. They were both there, even with the dude who toured with ‘em, and you can see at every show, in the documentary - dressed like a damned pink bunny. And I got to drink and hang out with ‘em, all night, at my favorite bar. To top it off, I was a hairstylist, going to barber school - and Ryan got his friend, who owns Layright hair products, to send me a bunch of stuff. Also, turns out, Greg was a make-up artist - and I was, also, dabbling in SPFX make-up. Ryan said he played around LA, with Keifer, though, sadly - I never got to see ‘em play, before I left LA. Though, I am so thankful for those memories - as these fellas, all, truly, changed my life, for the better. I even have a resonator, named ‘Rocco.’ Once I am able to afford a Dobro, I’ll be namin’ him ‘DeLuca.’

2:13 It's a Ferrington KFT-1. Danny Ferrington originally released these guitars under the Kramer brand before also releasing some under the Ferrington name in the early 90's. There was a book with a CD of his different instruments he made for various artists. I bought my KFS-1 in 1992 after seeing Danny on CNN discussing his reasons for choosing an asymmetrical design for the body. A few days later I stopped by my favorite small music shop and they had a few including some of his acoustic basses. It's my daily driver all these years later.
