I'm from the Wisconsin Dells area, and worked for a year on Mt. Olympus' IT department. Can confirm this theme park is sketchy as all hell... Not surprised at all.

@@Joeme_s I met the owner several times during my tenure and the guy is a complete asshole, cheapskate, jerk. None of us underlings dared talk with him because he had a way of demeaning us and making us feel about 2 inches tall. If you were ever stopped by the guy for a chat, as I was once, you just wanted out of that guy's presence as fast as possible. It was a toxic work environment, but not the reason why I say the place is sketchy. The owner was a penny pinching jerk and never wanted to do anything to replace IT equipment in the park that would have made a ton of sense. As a result, the equipment constantly couldn't handle their job and we'd constantly have to run into food kiosks, ticket booths, and other locations to try and fix the problems during weekends... the heaviest traffic times. With all that in context, it doesn't surprise me that rides are out of order during reopening after Covid. Hell, in 2018 when I worked there, a roller coaster took MONTHS to reopen because an entire section had to be rebuilt. I'm not shocked.

The fact that you can touch the coasters on the way in is like the perfect introduction to the ghetto fabulous wonderland known as mt. Olympus
@HondaAccordPerformance

It’s called common sense has nothing to do with being ghetto or not. If someone wants to scale a fence to the ride like you’ve seen at six flags with Batman it can be done. Superman Ultimate Flight at Six Flags Great America in the que line you can literally scale a similar size fence and be right underneath the coaster tracks or on it but there’s a sign saying you’ll be persecuted if you go out there.

I once watched their maintenance guy send a train with riders after they emptied a row that was throwing errors, then jump down ON TO THE TRACK IN THE STATION WITH A TRAIN IN MOTION. And he went to work on the contact pins for that seat that threw errors. First he tried to get the pin to pop up but after realizing the spring was shot he shoved it down so it wouldn't pop up again and they closed the bad row. He did all of this with the train in motion with riders on it. I want to say I appreciate trying to keep the line moving but this behavior would get you fired at most parks and probably a visit from the state. Also they don't actually care about the line because they still have the stupid full train role despite the fact that valleying isn't really a thing on it anymore.

@LeMicronaut
@LeMicronaut 3 жыл бұрын
@@derickyyy It's referring to some rides cutting it close on momentum or kinetic energy when going against gravity. Adding more mass (passengers) increases the train's momentum and the potential energy atop a drop. You need enough energy/momentum going in to climb out of low points (valleys) when the train is directed up. A train too light can lack the gravitional potential energy to climb a hill further along the track and so it will roll back and get stuck "valleying" at the low point.

I love coasters, and I know they're safe when maintained properly. But these clearly aren't maintained properly, and honestly I think they should have an amusement park inspector come out and inspect everything and shut it down until they fix it.

5:58 There used to be a old water coaster thing where that group outing area is on the right. It wasn't a good ride and was removed after a couple years. Footage of it used to exist. Mt. Olympus is a sketchy place with a interesting history. There were a couple deaths, which caused the wildmouse coaster to be removed. Another fell off a slide during winter. A slingshot ride was removed after the cable snapped, there are a couple videos showing it snap and hit the concrete. Potentially serious injuries/death would of happened if it snapped with them in the air. You used to be able to gokart through the trojan horse but lack of maintenance and they changed the path. There was also a fight between 2 groups over seating inside the building the wild mouse used to be in. Any questions I could help for a video about them :D

My 2 kiddos and I (12m, and 10f) were in MtO on June 24 as part of a loosely roller coaster themed 4-week cross country road trip (we also his SF Great America, Cedar Point, Silver Dollar City, and Silverwood) We started our day at MtO with Zeus under moody skies, but got on and really enjoyed it. We then had to wait out some lightning right at the Hades station - it cleared quickly (they told us 30 minutes from the last strike, but we heard nearby thunder (less than 5 miles) only about 10 minutes before they reopened. Oddly enough, it wasn't until they reopened that the rain began. We ended up riding back to back, once in the front and once in that middle. The first ride, on still dry track, was quite fun and still fast in the late June heat. The second ride, once the track was wet, was thoroughly insane, as was the pelting of our faces with all those rain pebbles. My kids elected to ride Pegasus knowing it would be quite rough, and their reactions were similar to yours. ROUGH ROUGH ROUGH! We couldn't get on Cyclops due to the retracking, but we did the add on giant swing... Wasn't worth the extra money, nor was it more "extreme" than really any of the roller coasters, but it was fun.

I haven't ridden any of the coasters in a few yrs because the last time I went it was like getting ghetto stomped with a 2x4 but I don't know how they are now. I wouldn't ride them out of self preservation at this point and because I now live close to Milwaukee and thus closer to Great America, where they have rules and wrenches and other such tools of maintenance. Honestly the indoor waterparks in the winter are the only thing about the Dells that's worth a squirt anymore.

Went to Mt. Olympus for the first time in June. Was in line to ride Pegasus, but I saw how the train comes back into the station and hard noped that one. I'm prone to get headaches on woodies and I wanted to do Hades so didn't want to set myself up for failure. Haha. The hubs said the same thing you did though; the end of Pegasus is the smoothest part. Glad I missed out on it and put Hades first. That ride is WICKED. Easily the most aggressive ride I've been on, but I'd definitely ride again. Probably the only reason I'd go back to Mt. Olympus, tbh. If I go back though, I'll try Zeus too.

One time when I was on cyclops I decided to not sit next to my friend and sit by my sister instead and the seat next to my friend that I would have been sitting mid ride the lap bar came up. For all the times I have been there I will say it is extremely sketchy. Zippin pippin is fun but the last hill is a killer.

Nice, I went here last year because it was one of few places open in the midwest. Had a blast there even with the sketchy conditions. Cooled off in the water park. and those hills coming back to the parking lot are killer at the end of the day, you want to take a nap right there lol.

The family would never sell the park, they’re really greedy and are trying to monopolize the whole city.

@@Danrarbc yea I hate it, there’s no need to have that many hotels and motels for a little shit theme park with a medium water park.
