Comcast doesn't own the rights to Thanos. The contract between Disney and Comcast is so stupid. Basically Comcast owns the park rights to *some* of the marvel characters east of the Mississippi river in perpetuity. But there's limits to what they can do with them. Like as far as I know, they can't update the theming of the rides, but only make safety upgrades...they can't make new rides based on the characters they own. That's why the spider-man ride looks so outdated, along with most of Universal's superhero area. I wish Disney would just make Comcast a ridiculous offer to buy the rights to the contract back. We'll never get an avengers campus on the east coast until that happens. Most of the newer MCU characters are free to use by Disney, thus why we're able to get a GotG ride, and I've seen Black Panther merch in WDW stores. The deal was made back in the 90s, so it's not like Disney could've known how popular these characters would've gotten. They didn't purchase Marvel until like...what...2009?

I was scared to ride the Hulk for years but when I did, I rode it four times that day. That zero g roll feels incredible. What really surprised me though was how similar Hagrids feels. It has the speed and multiple launches and a surprising thrill factor, for a coaster that has no inversions.
@TheDoctorOfThrills4 жыл бұрын
Honestly, i feel like the hulk does a pretty good job at telling its story without the awful gimmicks of the other rides, which is pretty special considering its age. This coaster is about as old as me (same month, actually). You get transformed into a hulk, then spin and crash into the water. You go into a brief rampage, swinging around on the cannon barrel, and continue. The gamma begins to wear off at the brake run, then you start to lose the violent energy, eventually you calm down as youre taken back to the lab.

The thing I was most from version 1 of this ride was Bruce Banner screaming, "NO! NO! NO!" as you accelerate out of the gamma chamber as the experiment fails.

I feel like the Hulk is really popular, but still under appreciated with how slaptastic that layout is. V1 hulk was a bit faster at the ending but it’s still a great ride. Back in the early days before metal detectors you could throw on some ear buds and rock out to music. My best ride on it was when rain started to fall almost at the same time we launched so the ride didn’t have time to stop. We were front row and it was super cool seeing rain go up. Even tho the rain would sometimes feel like needles hitting you face it still made it a great experience.

Ah man, this ride was my childhood~ Memories include -a long chain necklace almost flying off my head at the exit of the tube -giant globs of nasty algae in the bubble tubes during the queue -being convinced by my mom that it would be okay to ride it during a light drizzle, only to feel like we were getting pelted by small rocks, I couldn't even keep my eyes open I honestly think I might enjoy the original story more, it was traditionally animated and showed lots of scenes of The Hulk being destructive while trying to save people and news broadcasts painting him in all sorts of lights according to the scenario. The whole Hero/Villain debate was running through the line, making you connect more to Bruce Banner and understand his risky decision of trying to reverse the effect only for The Hulk to overpower him, and you hear his fear and frustration just before you leave the tunnel was something that stuck with me. I'll have to ride it again after the pandemic to see the new story with my own eyes, but it really stuck with me through the years. That's the thing I've always enjoyed about Islands of Adventure over Disney or Universal Studios (I know technically they're considered the same thing, but Islands of Adventure just seemed to really put a lot of work into the story telling elements) is the fact that you really did feel immersed in what the area or story was trying to tell and they told them in really good ways~

I worked version 1.0 and it was quite rough near the end. The launch often gave errors if the trains were fully loaded, and if the block brake didn’t trim enough speed it caused e-stops after a while. It really needed a lot of work when it closed in 2015.

My friend keeps recommending this ride to me if I go to Universal, but I haven’t ridden a coaster with an inversion before, so I think I should try a less intense one first.

Do the rip ride rocket on the other side of the park. it doesn't have an inversion, but it does have a loop that makes it feel like there is one. the track twists as it loops, so you stay upright the whole time

Take it from me, someone who had previously NEVER ridden a roller coaster but chose Velocicoaster for my first. DO IT!! I was so nervous for the upside down parts, but they were the best. I was in the same boat wondering if I should start with The Hulk or Hagrid's before Velocicoaster, but I'm so glad I did it the way I did.

I rode the hulk pre-rebuild and the pop of airtime was nothing BUT existent after the midcourse brake run. It was also the first steel coaster I ever rode.

I was really fortunate to visit Universal Studios soon after Islands of Adventure opened. I went with my Mom and we had 3 days unlimited Fast Pass due to staying at a hotel on the property. Fast Pass was only available to regular guests in a limited capacity. I made it my goal to ride The Incredible Hulk 20 times in a row. I was also able to ride Dueling Dragons in the front row while they actually dueled too. I rode the front row most of the time unless the wait was more than 10 minutes otherwise, I just walked right on immediately. It's one of my favorite memories as a 13-year-old. I haven't really been to a theme park since but I would love to visit Disney or Universal again someday.

Definitely one of my favorite coasters of all time. Haven't been on it since the rebuild.

massive improvement, the launch to the corkscrew slaps way harder

we went to islands of adventure the year it opened up (unplanned) as a kid. i got to ride the hulk, get off, and get right back on. there was zero line. it was hands down my favorite ride for a long time.

Fun fact: the updated version of the ride has a music track that plays through speakers on the trains, which was written specifically for the ride by Patrick Stump of Fall Out Boy- it's my favorite part & I think it makes the experience much cooler!

I have seen speculation that the track and supports manufacturers for the "New" Hulk were actually originally ordered for a clone of the ride at Universal Studios Dubailand, much like how a clone is being built for Universal Studios Beijing, but once the former project was scrapped the newly manufactured ride would replace the "Old" Hulk. While Hulk did receive quite a lot of wear and tear as you pointed out, I find it difficult to believe that a B&M steel coaster reached the end of it's service life in only 16 years.
