@@officialmonarchmusic that is ignoring where the parks show the most promise. All the Asian parks have shown a better return on investment than the American parks. Disney’s not investing in the parks because the money just isn’t there. Movies and streaming are much cheaper to invest in because the stats are more reliable. This is just gonna hurt the American parks. Which is a big deal sense the number 2 and 1 most attended are Disneyland and magic kingdom as of 2022. Personally if I were Disney I would continue not investing in the parks because I don’t have the money for “the Disney difference”, and just wait till I can get some debt off the book. Most excited for this honestly… since Universal monsters have been around since the studios conception. Here’s to hoping they add on a Creature of the Black Lagoon Swamp Ride in the coming years!!! lol it honestly looks amazing and the fact you can go in and get done up to look like a monster is perfection!

The last time Universal had a Dark Universe, it didn't work. Now, it's not only going to work, but be far more ambitious than anything they've done with these characters! Can't wait!

I LOVE...LOVE...LOVE this concept of this "Dark Univers" as par of the "Epic Universe" experience. I am looking very much forward to going there when it opens. I think that Universal Studios is outpacing Disney as far as investment in new rides and attractions. And, Universal is every bit as good and some cases even better at executing these new concepts, rides and attractions. I think Disney has some significant catching up to do and this is coming from someone who considers himself a Disney afficionado and have been visiting WDW since 1973,

Unbelievable. This is EXACTLY what fans want. The disparity between Universal and Disney -- in Universal's favor -- is astonishing. Their work is bold, overflowing with creativity and energy while Disney's recent projects are lifeless and boring. I'm not saying that Disney has lost its mojo, rather I think the Disney parks have always had a low-energy, low-ambition feel, but the quality of service and presentation made it top-of-class. But as Universal has caught up in execution, and combined it with a more energetic "cool" point of view (and, importantly, is not afraid of thrilling its guests), it is on the cusp (when Epic Universe opens) in surpassing Disney in parks entertainment. If what Disney announces at D23 for California and Florida are re-treads of the lands and attractions from the overseas parks, watch for a collective yawn -- and champagne toasts at Universal as they will know they have won.

Great take on this. The sad reality is that Disney literally relies on nostalgia and their theme parks are the only business they are doing decent in (Pixar just nailed Inside Out 2 so I must mention this success after nearly a decade of misses). Universal creating this theme park is progressive, modern, and what Walt Disney originally based Disney on. Universal is just doing it so much better today as they have continuously taken new technology and used it to push limits and create new experiences. And just as Disney relies on nostalgia and may suffer in decades to come due to poor performance over the past decade... This may well create a new generation of Unviersal Monster lovers that Universal has been unable to get off the ground. Here's to The Wolfman releasing next year and the opening of this park. It is going to be.. EPIC!

@@DrStarlander I'd say their current direction is better than Disney's current direction, but theme parks don't just change overnight. Disney still has the greatest rides and lands they've put out over all these years, and Universal has only taken this amazing direction for the 6-7 years. But at the rate we are going, they will totally surpass Disney at some point

My lifelong dream has been to be an Imagineer. Watching everything coming to Epic Universe, listening to how these creators are talking about legacy and care and storytelling and honoring the characters there before, breaking boundaries, thinking different, push what we expect from a theme park, immersive worlds.... I don't know if I've ever been more excited for a theme park. And the new dream is clear. I need to work for Universal with their team building parks. Epic in all the right ways. I can't wait for these doors to open.
