Kelvin Harrison Jr. as B.B. King, with just a few minutes of screen time, is fantastically soulful. His delivery of the line "if you're sad / happy and you wanna be sad / happy, you're in the right place," is so warm, so supportive, I feel personally comforted just watching him. @@user-crxfmuf As usual, you're dead wrong. Having the young elvis rock out to "mean woman blues" after little richard, would have SHOWN the connection they all had. And, it would've made the scene richer and fuller. If you had an ounce of intelligence, you'd understand that. The problem Baz Lurhman had with Austin, was that Austin's voice was limited and he specifically chose songs that Austin could handle. Elvis had many "rocking songs in the 50"s. And at club handy, elvis rocking out with little richard, would have been EPIC, improving the film in every way possible. You remain completely clueless.

@@jongon0848 Dude. They could've cut little richard's song in half, just coming in halfway through, then, elvis jumps up with a rocking "mean woman blues". EPIC!!!! JUST watch it here on KZbin. I'm guessing that Baz would have had to use elvis's actual voice, because the higher key on this particular song, would've been too hard for Austin's limited voice.

Love that they covered the vibe of Beale Street and that it was a place of solace for him. He definitely had that African American swagger. Austin got it now and it’s stuck on him too. He played this part well. Elvis had an invitation to the “cookout”.

I saw an interview with BB king talking about Elvis, lots of respect, he recognized the talent and the legend, but this closeness....to all of those artists...poetic license. Elvis knew he was taking from them.
