To be fair, one of them got "rich" off him. What they did get was the benefits & perks of his fame, name, lifestyle... including travel, women, parties, gifts, drugs, and prestige. Some clearly made a subsidized living after his death in clearly inappropriate ways including books, interviews and selling of fake items stated to have been once his or "used by". They all clearly cared for him, him for them in some way, but a more dysfunctional group you would have been hard pressed to find then. Just look at celebrities now, though. It's the norm instead of the exception. Michael Jackson went that route much like & patterned after Elvis (hell, he even married Lisa Marie), Tom Cruise while an actor is surrounded by enabling scientologists, Prince paid the same price as Elvis. Lifestyles of excess, ego, and narcissism. It's the American dream.
