I heard him sing this live several times. A thorough showstopper! The lights came down, the building shook with Elvis's mighty voice! It was positively chilling! You truly felt the presence of God in the building! When addressed as "The King," Elvis was known to reply, "Please do not call me that; there is but one true King and his name is Jesus Christ."

He was unbelievably Good!! And it was hard to get people who never heard Elvis to believe he was as good as you said he was. Until...until they actually heard his voice. I can be in the worst mood and all I have to do is listen to him sing a song and it just lifts me up. What an amazing man God gave us. I hope he made it to Heaven. I know he knew what to do to get there. He is SO NOT like the others they compare him to....Michael Jackson??? Don't think so! Elvis never forgot his Christian roots. I was blessed enough to see him in concert 3 times (even tho I was 13 when he died). Each concert he did this song...and he NAILED it every single time. Yes....even when I saw him in May of 1977. I miss you Elvis...God Bless your soul!

Great version. As sick as he was in 77' he "hit it out of the park" when he did this song on his last concert tour! Elvis rose to the occasion. He proved that even while very sick he was still the king!!!

I love the words to this song. I've had requests to do this song myself in church in the past. I love the passion of this tremedous gospel song. Not sure that this is my favorite version from Elivs ..but it's close. There's one with a lot of bass in it. And he sings it with such passion it brings you to tears.

The original (O store Gud) is written by the Swede Carl Boberg back in 1886. The Swedish version is also incredibly beautiful. No wonder Elvis wanted to sing it. It's up there with O Holy Night (Cantique de Noël).

Always cry when I hear Elvis sing "How Great Thou Art"! He was inspiration to both young and old and still is!! I saw him in person in the early 70's in Jacksonville, Fla. I have been an Elvis fan since I was 9 years old and always wanted to see him in concert...I was not disappointed!! He was fantastic!! I have visited Graceland several times and his home in Tupelo, Mississippi. On one of my trips to Graceland I met his Uncle Vester. RIP Elvis!! Your music lives on!!!
