Watch him sing Memories in his 68 comeback special.. a tight leather outfit, sat down on some steps, face covered in sweat, facing a female fan.How I would have loved being in her place! And this live rendition of Love letters which I hadn't heard before ....WOW.... simply took my breath away. ...slipped up a little with the lyrics but , expertly and magically, put things right like only Elvis can. 🤔🤔🤔

im not sure i agree that elvis voice got better, i think he was great from day one, and his best probably was 1968 thru 1970. towards the end it was more unpredictable at the top and lower end....but i would still rather listen to elvis than anyone else.

By saying 68-70 we probably his best - you just discounted the Aloha Concert in '73. I think critics would argue that was his undisputed best. I'm not a critic - and do think the 68 Comeback was at one of his highest levels - vocally and health wise. Me personally ? If there was any decline in his vocal presence after 73 - for me it only added to the song selections he was performing. And then we have the Jungle Room sessions - some outtakes are better than the masters I think :)

if you listen carefully, Elvis misses a beat once... but in a bigger picture it doesn't really matter... his beautiful voice oozing with feelings and gravity trumps them all... ...anyways, the beats in this song are not easy to keep up with... unless you are counting/careful, you will mess up... try singing along and you will know

Hamburger James gave Elvis a syringe of drugs and vitamins in the hip moments before stepping out and performing the Aloha special (the one that was taped and released officially). Pittsburg '76 and Memphis '74 were better concerts than Aloha '73. He had no enthusiasm in his movements, his eyes were distant, and his tongue was thick. He doesn't even sound like himself in the playback. I'd agree with you in saying that the critics didn't know the man well enough to make our decisions for us.

TheNathanScot aloha from haiawi he was fantastic and he was older and laid back and actually if you watch it again when he needed to he moved quite well. As far as having no energy well you must of watched a different show on top of that he was older and mature it wasn't 56 dude. Lol. And many accounts point to the fact that elvis was clean for that concert but who knows
