Jamel as another commenter pointed out, this song was written and originally performed by Carl Perkins at Sun Studios. The funny story ok how Elvis got the record it, is that Carl Perkins had a big hit with it just at the same time RCA bought Elvis from Sam Phillips, owner of Sun Records. RCA for a moment thought they might have signed the wrong singer. Elvis was quickly rushed to do his own version of Blue Suede Shoes. The version on KZbin is the Milton Berle show.

Jamel..... Every artist on the planet has their “signature tunes”, those which fans can easily associate them with when they hear them. When it comes to The King...... THIS was a totally a “S-I-G-N-A-T-U-R-E” tune of his & his alone ✊️😁 Along with Jailhouse Rock, Heartbreak Hotel, Hound Dog & Love Me Tender (among others), Blue Suede Shoes is one song GUARANTEED to get an “Elvis” response when people are asked something like “name something that comes to mind when you hear Blue Suede Shoes?” 👑👑👑

Would like to see the 50’s version- if I remember right the 50’s Elvis had a lot more raw power in it but that was a long, long time ago. The “new” version is smoother and his voice more mature. Either way it’s Elvis! It’s Great! He was competing with Pat Boone for the souls of America’s youth. White Bucks vs Blue Suede Shoes. Good Boys vs Bad. I still can remember the feeling when turned in my White Bucks for Blue Suede . I felt a little dangerous for a 13 year old.

Love the reviews. You should review three Elvis songs back to back First, his performance of hound dog on Milton Berle. His hip shaking and gyrations caused a huge stir and controversy. Next, he performed hound dog on the Steve Allen show and had to wear a tux and sing it to a dog. Later he had to be filmed from the waist up on Ed Sullivan when singing don’t be cruel.
