Thank you SO much for doing a video in Ronnie's honor. I was so saddened to hear about him passing away. Man, he was my favorite drummer of all time! I loved those multi colored drums (too bad Elvis hated them 🤣). That was a freakin' great video! Thank you to Michael Moore for the interview. And Spa Guy, you got to play RONNIE TUTT'S drums! I love it! I am not a musician or know anything about drums (or any instruments), but I was hanging on every word and loved where you inserted the photos. I never noticed the tape on Ron's drums. Bravo! Part 2, part 2! 🥁
@mochs38693 жыл бұрын
I've never heard anyone say it, and Ron never said it to me, but I have to think the T tape on the bottoms heads was for Tutt! He did have his name stenciled on the back side of the batter head on the kick drums which you can see when you look in them - Michael had some local shop recreate that for him.

I still remember listening to my Mom's old "secretly recorded" show from Tampa in 1971 where he made his Tutt / Scheff joke :) - I wish I had digitally captured that before the tape just fell apart. Was just a purse sized recorder but the audience screams and slighly muffled music and awesome voice really did capture the moment so much more than professionally recorded shows did.

Billy - Thank you SO MUCH for doing this...Michael called me and told me it was in the works as I had no idea it was happening. When Michael first learned of the kit's existence, he and I poured over every picture we could find to verify it's authenticity and I kept telling him, if he actually had the means to buy it, do it and do it now, or it's going to get separated forever and it shouldn't be, so he finally jumped in and went for it, and I'm so glad he did. GREAT footage and it was kind of emotional to see my Blue Sparkle kit once again as I haven't seen it in half a decade. It took me 5 years scouring eBay for the just the right drums to complete that kit, and I'm glad to see it's got a much nicer home to live in than when I had it - the only place I had to set it up was my garage where I shot this video of playing the whole Aloha show: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gqurq5dpfdWMhLs

@@SpaGuy Me too - the next thing we're hoping to unearth that a few of us have been working on for a while is where the "real" Blue Sparkle kit is...we know Ron donated it to the Hard Rock Cafe, but no one's really seen it since..I don't know anyone there to contact, but maybe someday we'll stumble on it. Thanks so much for uploading this video! I’m 58,and remember Ronnie’s heydays (mostly)! I’ve been playing drums since 1974,and I only disagree with the Standard Bass drum size in the 70’s as a 24inch. I think it was the 22 inch,more so than the 24. The 24 and 26,were favored by some of the Rockers & “all rounders” like Ronnie,but the 22 was a little more common. Ronnie was an AMAZING drummer,excellent with dynamics,and an incredible feel. He kept his eyes on Elvis at all times so he could get the “accents “ and “cues” from him. Thanks again!
