My grandma grew up in the Appalachian mountains and was raised in the Baptist Church. She owned Elvis' gospel album, and when this song played,tears just POURED! 💕🌼💕I miss you G'MA Daisy.💕🌼💕😢

The great, legendary Gospel singer Mahalia Jackson herself said Elvis was one of the best Gospel singers she ever heard. That he could be a success if he only sang Gospel. She was so grateful to him for bringing Gospel to the masses. This is the only category Elvis won Grammy Awards for.

What singers today could put a gospel song in their concerts. Not a one only great Elvis could pull it off

Gospel was Elvis's passion, As a child he was accepted by & into the Black Church near his home grew up in the church & even sang in the church choir. It was routine after a concert he & his inner circle would go up to his room hit the piano & sing gospel for hours. The only grammy awards he won were for his gospel work. He worked with so many singers The Sweet Inspiration are there as well with him & Whitney Houston's mother was a member of that group. His backing singers on this are The Jordanaires.. They were his favorite travelling gospel group growing up.. Once as a kid because he was so poor he tried to sneak into the tent but was caught by one of the singers. He looked at Elvis & in an act of kindness let him stay. He never forgot that & when he hit it big he called them and asked if they would be his backup singers. My absolutely favorite part from this video is how just for a moment Elvis turns back into that small boy standing in the tent church as The Jordanaires Baritone Hoyt Hawkins hits that powerful low note.. There is a light in Elvis''s eyes his face just changes instantly to an expression of pure excitement & joy.. It's only there for an instant... but it shows the love & respect & how much he honored these men & their group.

Elvis voice is great and the song was nice to. A powerful voice like Elvis can make any lyric powerful and great. If he was to sing the Alphabet, I would be sure it would be a number one song. look at Elvis covers...The singers sound really good and I would say great but do they warm your heart. For some weird reason as I type this response "Only Fools Rush In" is playing in my mind. Ohhhhh what have you done with your mental super powers :-)
