Another great one today. This is a triple banger for me, absolute top notch. Imagine if he had done this live, it would have torn the house down. There's sooo many good songs that he never performed live unfortunately.

Love his baby picture, could you imagine if his identical twin brother had lived. I can't imagine. His musicians were top notch. He knew them all, and selected them always himself. So good. Thanks Seph.

There have been so many great songs on your journey Seph, and this one belongs in the top echelon. I have used the comment before, but this and Whole Lotta Shakin' are the essence and roots of the man that started out in 1954.

Elvis worked with so many great musicians, but the "Nashville Cats" are near the top for me. The music they made during the "Nashville Marathon" stands as some of Elvis' best recording work.

Since the early sixties through to 1977 some critics of Elvis would claim that he had lost his rock 'n' roll mojo but he had many "hold my drink" rebuttal performances, "I Washed My Hands" being a prime example of that. A rarely heard phenomenal 1969 live performance of "What'd I say" featured on the "Elvis - The Sound Of Your Cry 1981 Album" is testimony to that also Seph, which I'm not sure you have heard yet, its a breathtaking tour de force of live rock 'n' roll expression rarely matched and you will discover many more as you progress through the 70s catalogue like "Promised Land", "T.R.O.U.B.L.E." ..etc!

@@SephPlays There is no live footage of it just the recording but the sound board of it is excellent! What'd I Say (Live at The International Hotel, Las Vegas, NV - 8/23/69 Midnight Show) James Burtons "chicken pickin' style" guitar and Ronnie Tutt's drumming are outstanding performances on this, a real highlight and the whole band is going at breakneck speed and incredibly tight. Listen to it as loud as you can manage without ear damage for full impact! kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZWuhph6osp4oac

Big hit by Stonewall Jackson originally in 1965. Almost all of this album was done ‘off the cuff’ with no rigid arrangements. The band members would have been able to play all these old country songs & standards from memory.

As I said yesterday, Joe Babcock wrote this song. Joe is the one I think sang along with Elvis as a high tenor on "Little Cabin On The Hill." The lyrics of the song do not state that he killed a man. The "Bad Elvis" wouldn't go that far. He robbed a man in Tn. I'd like you or another Brit do this song with an upper class Brit accent (posh), with a particular emphasis on the word WATER. That would be fun.

Will leave more info on this one later! For now: David Briggs is the pianist on this one. He would also tour with Elvis as his keyboardist during live performances. David Briggs was also the guy that Elvis's girlfriend Linda Thompson cheated on Elvis with (1976 I think). Anyway Elvis suspected something and had it confirmed by a guy he had look into the matter for him. Elvis had his suspicions confirmed. David Briggs talked about how he didn't think Elvis would mind at all, saying something to the effect of Elvis had other women. Well the way David Briggs told it Elvis found out and he didn't say anything. He waited until the next performance then quote "pulled the switch" on David Briggs. Throughout the whole concert David Briggs keyboard was silent. So that's how Elvis let David Briggs know he knew. A talk between the two men came after that. David Briggs didn't go into detail from what I remember only saying that quote "I was surprised he cared." Link to full Undubbed unedited version here 5:22 long- HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!- kzbin.info/www/bejne/Zmm4cqF3hNGso6s IT'S ONE OF MY FAVORITES! ELVIS IS HILARIOUS & IS OBVIOUSLY HAVING FUN RECORDING THIS ONE! SO GOOD! Oh, and "I Washed My Hands in Muddy Water" is a song written by Joe Babcock. In 1965, the song was recorded by Stonewall Jackson. His version reached number eight on Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart. SPLENDERRIFIC REACTION SEPH 🎶⚡🔥💛⚡🔥🎶🔥⚡💛⚡🔥🎶🔥⚡💛⚡🔥🎶⚡🔥💛⚡🔥🎶⚡🔥💛⚡🔥🎶⚡🔥💛⚡🔥🎶 THANK YOU FOR THIS! JUST 💙💎👌 TCB ⚡ & TLC ❤ & peace ✌& blessings 🙏 to you & yours & to one & all here as well 💕

@@maggieshome Yeah she did but Elvis kept on Sam Thompson as his bodyguard after they split. I'll include that interview in Seph's next Elvis reaction. It's really good. Anyway too Elvis kept supporting Linda financially after they broke up. Vernon came huffing and puffing out of his office one day to talk Elvis. Vernon was obviously vexed and Elvis asked him what was wrong and Vernon told Elvis two things: That one Linda called to let him know her rent on her (Malibu) apartment was due that month and two that she was still using the credit card that Elvis had given her when they were still together. Vernon was NOT happy about the credit card bill/ statement he had received. Elvis kind of laughed and told his father to pay Linda's rent. I think Elvis ended up paying the credit card bill too. So obviously Elvis had no hard feelings towards Linda. You're so sweet Miss Maggie 💖 I'm doing well thank you & hope you & yours are doing fine 🙏💕

@@maggieshome I hear you on Vernon. Elvis was in a way a proud man & he was aware of how many depended on him. As Terry Blackwood & Jim Murray both shared in an interview about Elvis: Elvis was a very loyal person. Very loyal. I don't think he had it in him to just cut someone off cold turkey unless Elvis felt particularly betrayed or hurt by an individual or individuals. I respect your opinion Miss Maggie 🌻🙏💕 Stay safe beautiful 💖

This is typically the type Elvis song that I love, but the musical arrangement is kinda generic and weak. It's over-produced with the horns. This should be more TCB oriented with more rock and less Vegas. Elvis' delivery is on point for this stage of his career. Still a good song. Top 200-250.
