Mohd. Rafi's voice is considered to be the voice of God ! So pure and melodious. Rafi did not copy the style or anything, he was classically trained and had his own style. It is the composer and music director's fault, not Rafi's. I'm a fan of both and both are not comparable.

I am Guyanese and I grew up on all kind of music..calypso, pop, rock n roll, reggae, hindi, jazz, country, etc. In my humble opinion, Mohammed Rafi had the most beautiful voice ..gift of God as some would say and the most versatile of all singers. he could do pop, the sad songs, the rock n roll and the classical all with ease. No disrespect to any other singer, but its not even close. The mere fact that the majority of Hindus feel the same about a Muslim is all you need to know.

Rafi was a great singer and I loved his voice above all other voices that I have heard where hindi songs are concerned ,he even overshadowed Lata in the duets on the other hand Elvis is a legend and a king of rock and roll and I don't think that any one can compare with these two legends.Like Elvis cannot sing Hindi songs Rafi too cannot sing English songs.Regarding singing to a similar tune both have done justice to their respective songs.

sorry to disagree with you in this respect- you know amit kumar KK's son was far more superior to KK but he was arrogant and very moody and temperamental that is the reason he lost on to other singers but what ever work he has done is far far superior to KK's work with due respect to KK but there is another singer who started as a copycat but he was far better than KK in all genre's of music and songs but again the fame went to his head and caused his downfall. I have grown up in India and my dad had all the latest LP'S of the various pop , jazz ,country etc. singers (English) I also used to watch a lot of Indian movies and listen to Indian songs . I honestly enjoyed both and it is very difficult to say which is better .I am settled in Australia and still listen to Indian songs as well as English...so I really do not understand what these only Rafi lovers or Elvis lovers are arguing about .....Life would be so boring if we only heard either one of these singers...all singers have their own style of singing and I enjoy all of them so people must stop bullshitting as to who is the better singer and enjoy the variety of talent on display .

lets not compare because the tune is same/similar. the tone is very very different. While elvis sang with a deep voice... Rafi sahab sang with open voice and his usual sweetness which was his forte. I think, the O priya part is a bit more difficult to sing than the original margarita part because the octave is higher in the Rafi sahab version. But then thats my opinion

I love Elvis had a great voice......did great songs.....copying each others songs does NOT necessarily mean that rafi is a inferior singer......any way these are lyrics written by song writers....anyone can sing them in their own voice....in addition you can judge who has a better voice.......From all the years i have listened to elvis in my younger years since i didnt hear Mohamad Rafi s voice a lot in those days, until in the later years. I have come to this conclusion. Mo RAFIs voice, the up and down tone of his voice and the different contrast of songs.....I have not heard anyone come even close to RAFIs voice.....I want to sound like Elvis and sound like RAFi......BUT heres the truth I love elvis s songs but in comparison RAFI is still on top...out 10...i give elvis 7 or 8 and Rafi 13 out of 10...Any one who dont know Mohamad RAFI.....please just google youtube him.......You will realize.

I love how the indian music directors take a song and then make it their own, the song " Bolo bolo kuch to bolo pyar ho to kehdo yes, pyar nahin to kehdo no" ---starts out like the original song then the song becomes so beautiful. Also the song "'lehoron pe lehar" takes beautiful nuances and is a beautiful variation of the original copy

None can compare Hindi tunes with any other tunes of the world. God created Hindi just for the sake of melody which is mostly abscent in other languages. Afterall you cant impress a lady with estrogen .. you need to have testeosterone to impress a woman which is the meaning of the song.. i think estrogen would turn off women.. how often we used to increase our base in our voice to impress our crush.. elvis uses those biological thoughts in the song too.. that is quite impressive.. i am not sure if elvis was considering to sound masculine but he sound more masculine in this song to impress the lady

This is like comparing apples with oranges. Playback singing(In India) is quite different. Elvis is singing for himself.. Playback singer in India(Rafi in this case) has to make sure, people should think as if Rajendra Kumar is singing. In addition, he must tune his voice as music director demands.
