That clip of That's When Your Heartaches Begin live in Vancouver is pure gold. He was so good. He mentions this show during the press interview he gave before his 1970 concert at the Astrodome in Houston. He didn't forget Vancouver.

I recall we lived on William St; quite close to Empire Stadium. One day I could hear all these girls screaming and I asked my Mother what this was......she said it's some Elvis guy........I was so young, but never forgot this!

This is great. The same thing happened on a smaller scale when I saw him at the stadium in Jacksonville Florida around 1955. I saw him in 56 at Florida theater, and 1972 and 1977 in Alabama.

That was interesting. I was the ‘Themes For Teens’ rep. For Vincent Massey Jr. High& later...Lester Pearson Sr. High...when Red had the show at ‘JR’ & then WX. I was also the President of the Red Robinson Chapter of The Elvis Presley Fan Club. So as such..was supposed to meet Elvis in the Lions dressing rooms. But..Red said I didn’t need any ID. So when I presented myself at the team door, the cop wouldn’t let me in. So I ended up on the roof of the baseball dugout. From there I witnessed the fans avalanching down the stands and rushing the stage. I had just turned 15 on the 21st. I heard 2...that’s right 2 songs...then ‘zoned out’. I kept thinking “I can’t believe he is really here. When the fans rushed...I was terrified for Elvis’s life and my hands flew to my face. It was wet and tears were streaming off my chin. I have no recollection of getting off the roof or much else until the next evening. But my friend from Victoria had come over with 2 friends, and we stayed at the Georgia Hotel overnight. I had wanted to give the Red Robinson Chapter .. pink charter back to Red, but my husband had it thrown out. It would have been quite the collectors item. Anyway...we have the footage of the interview, etc. Didn’t see the barricades and cops arm to arm...they were there...all around the stands. We were saying to each other...why this? Oh...that’s why.♥️

That is amazing Lynn. I can’t believe how disappointing it must have been not to get in the dressing room. Wow. 🙂

Great vid! Man, it would have been cool to have been around back then to see all of that. Elvis was the total package - he could sing, dance, act, charismatic and handsome - he will always be the King of Rock n' Roll!

Hey Jean...GREAT video as usual. I had a chance to spend the better part of a day with Red Robinson a few years ago when our Beatles memorabilia exhibit open at the PNE in Vancouver. Picking his brain was a blast! Asking about working with The Beatles...Elvis...Buddy Holly...Ricky Nelson...etc. Red knew them all. Again....great videos ! Thanks...and keep up the good work!

CKNW. 980kHz. 50kW. Empire Stadium was obviously a bad venue for a show. Later, the Beatles broke off their show over security concerns.
