That was Elvis’ 4th of 31 movies. IT was filmed in early 1958 when Elvis was 23 yrs old. He was drafted into the Army, but his service was delayed until he finished this movie. This movie, King Creole, is one of his best. Jailhouse Rock was his 3rd movie and his song and dance scene titled Jailhouse Rock is well worth watching, as he choreographed it himself. He was a naturally talented singer, dancer and actor.

Yeeeeeeesssss King Creole- Elvis with an Oscar winning performance with killer songs. New Orleans’ best movie ever. Elvis scored a slew of hit songs including this gold record. Try a 4K restored version of CRAWFISH 🦞. Trust me - the beat was the baddest ass beat of the entire decade. Maybe of the last 7 decades lol. Elvis = fire. This was a generational legend- youth rebel - civil rights rebel. Elvis was all about social change in an era that was about anything but.

In the late 50’s & all of the 60’s Elvis was the highest paid actor of the time in Hollywood he stared in 31 movies & 2 Documentaries of his concerts (That’s the way it is) & Elvis on Tour both were fantastic really got to see his charisma & how he was the best at entertaining an audience! Elvis was & still is the GOAT!!

More Elvis! He did much more for our Country than Movies and Tours. His life story is so incredible. So many things to learn about this cultural Icon. When you get in to the many talents of this man and learn about him, please watch “Elvis and the Black Community”. He was also in the Army. He came back and started playing Vegas. That’s where you can watch Poke Salad Annie. He was an amazing performer. He also loved Gospel. Sadly he really got roped in to doing many movies that WE loved, but his manager was in it for the money. I fell in Love with Elvis when I was 6yrs old! Not in love, but he was so fun to watch and my Daddy looked like him. I thought. Lol!

Elvis opened the door for all the rap groups. John Lennon said...."There is Elvis and everybody else". When Elvis finally played in NYC the list of groups who attended his performance was staggering from the Beatles on down. They played homage to the man who opened the doors for everyone else. When it comes to the voice none of them compare. Frank Sinatra said, "I'm just a singer. Elvis takes it to a much higher level." Anyone who ever knocked him, or made fun of him didn't know him. When his movie Love Me Tender came out people waited in a line that ran around the block to get in to see him in his first movie. Every Elvis movie made money. He wanted so badly to be an actor. He said, "Why didn't they use the money they made on my movies to give me some good roles". Instead they used it on other actors to give them great movies. Had the Colonel not been so greedy about making sure he made money by insisting he sang in every movie. He made money on the movie and separately on the soundtrack for every movie. They would have given him better movies if they didn't have to deal with the Colonel. I don't think many studios wanted to deal with the Colonel. He made sure he got "MONEY" so he could have fought for better roles for Elvis. The Colonel handled all the deals. He didn't care what the material was or how goofy the songs were that Elvis had to sing in the movies. The Colonel had no say so as to what Elvis sang. Elvis controlled that.

King Creole was Elvis’s favourite film because he felt it was a serious movie with proper acting with big stars. But it didn’t get the recognition because it didn’t make so much money for the studios so they kept him in the wining movies for years. There are other gems tho’ His first movie was Love me Tender, a cowboy. Jailhouse Rock was epic for his acting, the music and the dancing. He made 2 other excellent cowboy movies, Flaming Star and Charro. Both of which showed how well he could act. Wild in the Country was very good too, with Change of Habit another excellent serious film that would even be relevant today. Fun in Acapulco was also well made with Elvis playing his role really well. GI blues, Kid Galahad , Blue Hawaii, were good too. So you’ve plenty to see. Great reaction. More Elvis please 👌💕🕺

Elvis made 31 movies. He started making movies in 1956, and stopped briefly for 2 yrs (1958-1960) to do a tour of duty, in the United States Army. When he was discharged & returned back home to the states, he returned to making movies. Elvis'very 1st movie was 1956's, Love Me Tender. His 1st movie back after being in the Army, was G.I. Blues. His final film, was 1969's, Change of Habit. Elvis was a much better actor than he ever got credit for. That was heartbreaking for him, because he wanted to be seen as a serious, respected actor, like some of his big screen heroes. This clip was from, "Trouble" in his movie, King Creole. He filmed King Creole, right before he went into the Army, in 1958. Definitely check out: King Creole Jailhouse Rock Loving You Love Me Tender Four of his greatest acting performances, but certainly not the only great ones. Even when the people in charge, made the scripts & stories cheesier, it's still an Elvis movie. And he still looks & sounds great, and his acting isn't bad...but his heart just wasn't in it. He knew the cheesy movies weren't art. They were a money making device, based on his looks, voice and fame. I hope you continue watching his movies, watching his concert performances, listening to his albums, and watching the documentaries. He really was quite the extraordinary talent. He was also, a very kind, generous, humble & grateful person. He was the King, and there just wasn't anyone like him. Elvis, was something special. In today's terms, Elvis was built different.

Hi Pluto! This a very legit movie and Elvis personal favorite. The opening song in King Creole is amazing (crawfish) and the rest of the songs are as well. This script was written for the hottest young actor of the day, James Dean but his sudden passing in a car crash left the part open. No one thought he could fill James Dean’s shoes and Elvis took a lot of flack from critics. I’m not sure Hollywood wanted a country boy to take a place within their inner circles. Ironically, they publicly scoffed at him while privately pursuing him. Now that Elvis has passed, as well as his critics, King Creole has withstood the test of time. Loved your reaction Pluto!❤️

Of all of his films, this was his favorite. It’s titled “King Creole”. It’s his 4th film. It’s the last one he made before entering the Army, as he was drafted right before filming started and had to request a three month deferment to complete the film. He made four films in the 1950s before entering the Army in 1958. All but one of those films were in black-and-white. A lot of the younger generations don’t like to watch black-and-white films, so they miss out on several of his best films because of it.

It is Based on the message of MLK's "I Have A Dream" Speech, and was written for him with this in mind. It also honored the Memory of Robert F Kennedy, who was also Assasinated during the same time period. This was a Turbulent Time in America, 🇺🇸 with the Civil Rights Movement, Protests and Riots against Vietnam War and it seemed as if the Country was being torn apart and Elvis wanted to bring a Message of Hope and Unity to the Nation. "If I Can Dream" is at it's heart, a Civil Rights Song.

King Creole is one of Elvis' best early movies along with Jailhouse Rock, Love Me Tender, and Wild in the Country. James Dean (Rebel without a cause another good movie to check out) was suppose to play this role, but he died in an automobile crash, so Elvis got the role. He was good, and could have been better, but money and the Colonel got in the way. Elvis' movies always made money and the Colonel insisted he sing in the movies so he could double dip on the money end. Elvis wanted to make movies separate from his recordings.

Early in his acting career, Elvis showed a lot of potential as an actor in high production films with serious actors eg King Creole eg Walter Matthau, Carolyn Jones or Flaming Starr 1960, however instead of developing his acting ability, Elvis was put into formulaic musical-comedy type films that were just made to make money and were often of lesser quality. I still enjoyed them but Elvis later hated these films but was bound by a contract he could not get out of. There was a story where one of his later movies was so bad that he couldn't stop laughing between takes as the script and songs were so bad, however he was still professional on set when filming. It's always a great shame in my opinion, they never developed his acting potential, as he had the makings of a very good actor.

@@nealmalik9142 true. Most peeps outside of those who actually do the research and genuine Elvis fans are sadly ignorant. Side note: The actual catalogue of Elvis' volume of musical work sits at "unknown" because during the transition from Sun to RCA, most of it was "lost" or "misplaced". The almost "800" songs is from the 84 volumes RCA has released to the world and where most of the statistics are based on. With that in mind, number of fans is now more than 50 million, sales records are more than 2 billion and counting (some countries don't keep records so educated guesstimates apply), he is not admired but worshipped around the world.
